Round 5 Norwood vs North - 20,281 Target

Should be a cracking game this one.

North have 1 win, 1 draw and Norwood have 1 win. With all sides having a win so far this season the leadder is pretty congested atm. The weather should be good on Friday night this week.

I would say 5,000 would not be an unrealistic expectation but who's to say there couldn't potentially be a few more than that?

At Norwood, recruits McGuinness, Wonaemirri and Vallejo have all fitted in beautifully and old faithfuls Borlace, Gallagher and Vlatko have been consistent performers as well. Pfeiffer and Culpitt also played well against the Double Blues. I am expecting Matt Thomas to get a call up to the Power this week after two blistering games back to back, and Lower may also be close. If one or both of them go, it will be a real bonus for North and a big loss for the legs.

Who knows though - we may see Campbell and Massie (Crows) come back in to the team this week.

Will look forward to what the Roosters supporters can add about their team's prospects this week and how many people may get along to the game.

(BTW the record home attendance at Norwood is 20,280 - something we'd love to eclipse one day!).

The only way they'll get 20,000 is they have free Coopers & Villis as part of the deal.

They shut the gates with around 17,000 in a few years back when we flogged Port.

No Villi's during the trial games, it was back to Balfours ****, they could give away 20000 tickets, and still wouldn't get 10000 to the game.

They'd never get more than that 17,000 they got a few years back with today's safety standards. In the old days they used to just keep on squeezing them in. Finally they'd hire fat people to lean on the crowd that was still just outside the gate, so that they could squeeze in a few dozen extra, then slam the gate shut before everyone popped out again. That'd be the only way they'd get more than 20,000 at Cooper's today also, unless they let the kids sit around the boundary line or something.

Yep, the attendance was given as 16,600 in 1996.

One game at Coopers Stadium this year so far, which attracted a crowd of 7,168.

Rd 3 at Noarlunga attracted 2,043 (2/3 were Norwood at least) - other fans were unable to get accommodation to make the trip.

Rd 4 at Unley - Sturt undefeated and a crowd of 2145 in atrocious conditions. Again, a lot of those were Norwood fans.

North fans must be full of confidence if they aren't gonna turn up.

Putting aside allegainces, it ought to be a game any SANFL fan might be tempted to go out and watch. We play Central the following week so no dount a few from Hamra Homes Oval may come along to size up Norwood.

Besides, who can pass up the opportunity to have a Coopers at an SANFL game rather than a West End Draught?

I'd be disappointed if there is less than 5k in attendance.
