this will be a belter of a game and i would love to have been there to watch it as a neutral fan. Ive been to one other of their clashes which i think the dogs got home by about 12 points at alberton (rd 1 2005 i think spelly????)

its always a great contest and a damned shame that its not on the radio. id have to say the dogs in a nail biter at home.

I keep hearing that everyone expects this to be a cracking game of footy and for the sake of the game I hope so. If the two teams replicate last weeks form, it could get ugly. However if Port manage their best, it will be a great night.

Dogs are due for a four quarter performance. They have been saying it is going to happen soon. If it happens this week, port could be in for a long night.

The big question: does anyone think that 10k will actually turn up to the game?

When was the last time 10k turned up to a minor round game?

Doubt it, but what I (and probably the CDFC & SANFL) will find interesting is exactly how many they do get.
For a normal Saturday night game with minimal build up they'd probably get about 6k.
It'll be interesting to see the different in numbers a bit of marketing pulls.*

Also interested from those out in the northern suburbs as to if there's much promotion around the shopping centre or other local clubs, etc?

Good luck to the Dogs, nothing ventured, nothing gained. I hope all goes well and its a cracking match.

Just for the record I think the Dogs will win easily (at least 4 goals).

and if they don't make 10k, will people think it's a failure?

I don't think so personally - been very well promoted and at least has given the SANFL some positive coverage.

Definately not, as per my above point, anything over 6k will be a success, its just a matter of how much.
If they pull less than 6k*(ie what they'd get at a normal Port v Central night game at Elizabeth IMHO) then it will be a failure bit I don't think that will happen.

i dont, i almost think the push for 10k, was more a plan to get 8 or 9, which is an extremly good effort in itself.

It is a real pity that games like this are not televised and to qualify that, have the game covered and then replayed later than go live against the gate. Unlike Sat. arvo game on ABC which no doubt keeps people away from games if the weather is poor or even looks like being dodgy.

couldnt agree more wedgie. summed it up perfectly.

i think we got 6500 for round one vs north. so i think 7500 wouldnt be out of the question but highly doubt we will get 10,000.

For the record dogs in a canter.
