Games played

The budget has Schell bringing up 100 games this weekend, with a note saying this includes 2 state league games. I must say I just assumed these games didn't count as league games. I think it's fair enough but do people think these should be included in official game counts?

They should not be included - I bet if you asked the players it would mean more to them to play 100 games for their club than 100 games including State games.
eg. Paul Sherwood's 150th at Glenelg was celebrated the week after it was announced in the Budget because he also played one State game.

The Budget didn't used to include them but for some reason started including them in the games totals a year or so ago. :?

State games should be referenced separately from club games ... they always used to be I thought?

they have followed suit with the GAYFL. Perhaps the wording of these milestones should be changed eg Daniel Schell 100 Official games and in brackets (98 club & 2 state) then celebrate his milestone when he wishes which in most cases this would be at the 100 club game mark

I kind of feel those games should be included - as when you're representing the state, you're representing your club.

Me too. Wouldn't they be included when being considered for League Life membership?

I think it depends on what purpose you are using the games tallies.

For SANFL Life Membership, yes of course they should be included. But if you are looking at things from a club perspective (which is what I presume more people would be doing), then I think it makes more sense to leave them out.

So really they should be included in a separate column, so that those who wish to add the two columns together can do so, and the truth is clear to everyone.

I don't know. The clubs might be happy to include state games as well - reflects success to have players in those teams.

I feel a player who manages to play state games should have these recognised. The clubs should celebrate 100/200 club games but if a player represents the league at that level then I think they deserve to have those games recognised as part of their SANFL careers.

And with this too, I would like to see how many State reps are playing currently (no I don't have the info for this)
