RESERVES

The Magpies have come away with a stunning come from behind victory in the early game at Alberton today. After trailing by 6 goals to 1 midway through the 2nd quarter, the Magpies staged a great comeback to get over the line by 3 points.

The top of the table Redlegs looked too tall and too quick for the Magpies in the first half, with John Pratt and Andrew Hill kicking two goals each to half time. The Magpies struggled to get the ball forward and were without an effective tall target to kick to.

Whatever Greg Phillips said at half time worked as the Magpies kicked five goals to one in the third term to edge just 4 points behind the Redlegs at the last change.

Shaun Smiths 2nd goal put the Magpies in front 5 minutes into the last quarter, but Ben Speight replied with two consecutive goals to put the Redlegs up by 1 points midway through the last. The Redlegs looked home and for the Magpies it was an all too familiar situation.

Port Adelaide wanted this however and continued to attack. Shane Caterall goaled to put them within 3 points before Cameron Miller took a strong mark 10 metres out in front, played on and goaled to give the Magpies the lead. With only moments remaining, Norwood attacked and had an open Brad DeVries 15 metres out, but a poor kick put him under pressue and his snap shot ended in a behind ending the hope of a miracle last minute victory.

Xavier Watson had a stunning last quarter for the Magpies, working hard on the wing to get the ball into the forward line. Clayton Crabbe played his best game for the club at CHB, whilst Shaun Smith, Cameron Miller and Sam Mardling also had an influence in the comeback.

For Norwood, Mitch Sandery and John Pratt were impressive, whilst Luke Crouch also played well. Andrew Hill had an influence before going off at half time.

Tredrea played only one game this year for the Magpies. He is not the reason we lost today. The reason we lost today is simple, we did not play Port Adelaide football.

When we play the Port Adelaide way, we can beat anyone.

Tredrea wouldn't have kicked 2 goals today. The delivery to the forwards was shocking.

The Bays would be stoked to only have on player not there for the right reasons as opposed to 21.

Port started off in great form last year and fell away in the second half of the season. They have a very good side on paper and in all reality they should have lost by more bar Norwood's innacurate kicking. Clayton (Mark? No 2) seemed to be right off his game today missing shots he would normally kick and getting caught up in stoushing with opposition players on a regular basis. 2 weeks ago Westies came them a fright and Sturt beat them at Alberton albeit kicking 20.3 on the day. Results seem to suggest that Central is a cut above, followed by a pack of chasers. One would expect that at the start of the season the final five would have included Central, North, Eagles and Port with Glenelg, South and Norwood fighting for a place. However, Sturt have 4 wins, we've had a draw and while Central keeps beating all challengers then maybe the final five could include Central, North and three teams yet to be decided?

Nice post Cyclops. Typical Port fan who can't admit that the best team won on the day. Not only did you not get the joke you finished up with an even bigger joke....yourself. =D>

Clueless.

Guess all you want mate but you're telling the story, don't assume what others might be thinking.
Call a spade a spade and tell us who you're talking of, don't beat around the bush.

C'mon. You don't win a Best And Fairest when you lazy, not even at VFL level.

Time will tell...I smell another Baird or Cupido situation...Ive followed himas Im a Roos fan and commenting on his AFL form and why he got delisted

But he dominated the VFL, so he should be able to do the same at the SANFL.

I also know the only reason he is here in Adelaide and not playing in his home state (where he was heading before a phone call)
