I feel with Mickan the jury is still out. Got the lads playing a good style of footy last season to go to this shite kicking back style that is costing us wins. Also glenelg's recruiting was very poor with no key position players recruited, don't know if this has much to do with coach though.

Nothing too much wrong with this post.
Sure it's a tad controversial - but at least in Pyman's case LEH has asked a serious question.

Re: Pyman OUT!!!

Postby Sojourner » Mon May 28, 2007 7:29 pm

Before this season had begun, I was informed that Pyman had been made an offer by the Sturt football club, the result was that South had to raise his salary in order to keep him. What is not clear is who approached who first and I have been told that Pyman sought Sturt out. I have not been happy about this from the start of the season and my feelings on the Panther forum on the subject are pretty well known! #&%@#!

My thoughts have been for a long time that South need to correct a wrong that they made in the past in order to go forward. In the 1980's John Schneebichler was for a time one of our best ever players, he put in constantly four full quarters of effort and had bucket loads of talent and skill as an SANFL footballer. The trouble being that often he carried the whole team on various games and the end result of the season was often a finish outside of the five. As a result he played his last season at Glenelg who did not win the premiership that year and I am pretty sure that in moving there that was his hope. He has gone on to coach Glenelgs juniors and has pretty much been banished from the South Adelaide Football Club as a result. I can definatley see why a number of Panthers members would have been upset at Schneebichlers decision to do that. Yet the nasty stuff that went on about it afterwards went on way to far and I dont feel that the membership truly appreciated the fact of what he had achieved for the Panthers and why he made the decision that he did make.

Schneebichler was one of the best players South ever had, he should be the coach of the club now. I feel that if we as a club actually apologised to him and made an effort to put things right that the benefit of having him back where he should be could be the best thing that has ever happened to South in a long while.

It's Laird's last year at the Dogs as well. Apparently.

Have a go at this LEH.

Instead of putting all your efforts into starting a well informed debate, based on opinions formed through research or viewing of the subject, have a go at the top right corner of every post you place on here.It gives you the chance to "edit",yes,"edit" your own post. Then hey presto! LEH you could add why did Pyeman put Warren on Passador in the last quarter . Funny Passador started marking the ball when warren was moved onto him.
And for the record WWT Fans do no want him to come "HOME" as a coach.Thats Pyeman not LEH.

the reason pyman put warren onto passador in the last quarter was pretty evident to anyone who saw the game. Kenna and williams were both unable to take the field through injury,Parry also was on one leg and had to play up forward. Warren proved to all and sundry that he was ineffective in all soughts of ways when up forward. Carlile who had flogged passador until 3/4 time and was clearly our best player was shifted up the ground which gave warren the opportunity to not only be accountable for a change but perhaps learn something from a full forward that leads strongly and plays in front wherever possible. 8)

I was at the game and Poor Passador had one of those games and yes Carlile flogged him.My point being when the pressure from Carlile was gone he started to improve.
Perhaps some of your guys are not as fit as they should be (not the ones who got injured during the game) but just looking at one named Bennett who was at CHB(ithink) looked like he had been eating the pies left over from when cupido left!!
And if you dont like Warren up forward you have poor injury prone Dale Ellis in his normal spot at woodville oval the twos that is .

And I was worried about south before the game how wrong I was !!

Aye, I remember "Schneezer". Damn good player, on the rare occassions South was on song he was very damaging, and when they weren't he always seemed to be out there trying. If what you have written about the South's members giving him grief is true, then South is doing itself a real disservice in alienating somebody who should be regarded as an asset. I mentioned a long time ago that there needs to be a real "South" bloke in charge of the Panthers, somebody who epitomizes all that was ever good with the South footy club. Schneezer was the man I mentioned. I have read your comment as meaning there was some behind the scenes spite directed at John, based only on his decision to play his final year out at Glenelg. There must be more to this story, if this was the norm for footy clubs then Jarman would never have come back to the Roosters, Kerley wouldn't have returned to West, Cornes wouldn't have coached Glenelg to its most successful era etc.

I have always been led to believe that it was simply because he chose Glenelg!

As you point out various SANFL players have done that and been welcomed back by their original SANFL club, so I dont know why that is the case this time. Maybe it is because when a club has a distinct lack of success it can result in members turning on one another. South have had our share of political brawling, so that could well be the reason.

It's a real shame if that is all it is Sojourner. I would like to see South enjoy a bit of success, (not at Sturt's expense of course) and increase its supporter base a bit. That side of Adelaide needs to be lured into the SANFL fold. But I guess being success starved can make people a little desperate and begin spiting each other, to the overall detriment of the club in general.
