It's Time To Go

The Weed, after West Performance yesterday and i am glad i didn't listen to it do all us supporters a favour and resign. You have won 4 games in two seasons as coach of Westies and this isn't good enough sure recruiting hasn't been great but you have no idea on how to get a side up to win important games. if we had of come close to the doggies i would have thought we have improved but in reality we are where we were last year thank god Glenelg is worse than us at this stage because if they win a few more games and we lose a few more game we are looking at our third spoon in a row. This is not good enough.

i think that is very harsh, surely they have improved since last year ? & seem to have a group at least having a crack at it afterall they wont be the only side central kills this year.
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

No i don't think it is harsh and if we had improved on last year we would have won the game we had lost recently

Too harsh ....

Coach is important to success but also important are the players. Too easy to blame the coach / change the coach. Look at teams that change coaches regularly how do they fare long-term?

At least balance things up and comment on what's going wrong on the field before calling in the executioner. Who expected the Bloods to be anywhere different from where they are? How many teams are going to get thrashed by the doggies this year?

Yes I agree too harsh.

But in saying that I would not be extending his contract.

Maybe its time to start discreetly sounding out a few possible replacements.

It costs the club a lot in many ways if you start axing people mid season, what sort of message does that give to the recruits, especially the newer ones? Doesn't exactly make you feel secure in your own future I wouldn't have thought.

So far we are showing more signs of promise than in the past and up to about 4 weeks ago we were all looking a lot happier with ourselves. Moral must be a bit low having lost so many games in a row when you were in a winning position (no matter who's fault it is) and remember last year we were not even getting close to a winning position for weeks in a row.

The new admin at the club also needs to be given 3 years before you start putting the microscope on them IMO, takes a while to turn a big ship like an SANFL club.

I've been saying from the word go. The weed's heart isn't there coaching at Westies. He's an Eagle at heart and at first opportunity I'll put money on the fact he will jump ship and join the Eagles ranks again. That's what I've heard from a very reliable source. We will welcome him with open arms as well.

You can be the best coach in the world but if you don't have the cattle you ain't going anywhere. Westies don't have the cattle. You need to give the weed the credit he deserves. Not even the great man Jack Cahill could ressurect the current westies playing list. Concentrate on recruiting and blending that into a team and you maybe a chance to play finals footy. Until then don't lay the blame on the coach.

there's definately been signs of improvement. Geeeez as an Eagles supporter I should know. You knocked us off at Richmond. Having said that your still a long way off and criticising the coach won't get you where you want to go any faster. When a side is underperforming I think people find it rather easy to blame the coach without looking deeper into the problem.

Stability and sticking by the coach is one thing, but having a coach who you can have faith in to do the job is still required. I'm not sure Weidemann quite cuts it as a league head coach. He is still a champ though!

Back at the Eagles perhaps as head coach no way IMHO.

I heard McGowan resigned last night, telling the club it couldn't get any better than yesterday and he was going out on the ultimate high.

There you go hondo. Couldn't have Rick feeling left out.
