What teams have to do to match their results from last seaso

Postby Grahaml » Tue Jun 05, 2007 6:14 pm

Since I'm fairly bored today, I drew up the following table to show what the various teams need to do in order to match their efforts from last season
Team Wins 06 Wins 07 To Match 06 % of remaining games
CD 12 8 4 33
ST 5 3 N/A N/A
NA 16 4.5 11.5 88
WWT 16 4 12 92
NW 9 4 5 42
PA 11 4 7 64
SA 11 2.5 8.5 71
WA 2 2 N/A N/A
GL 1 10 9 69

Some clubs are going to have to have a very good run in the second half of the season to improve their record from last year, and North and the Eagles can only drop one game. I'm sure this is all pretty obvious but with Sturt and the Dogs improving by as much as they have, some teams are going to fall behind.

I notive they've improved their attack, but their defence is really letting them down.

One extra point in the "for" column is quite an improvement too!

That's quite staggering how similar it is and shows how good the eagles were from this point onwards last season. Similar form line to the dogs in 05 I would think.

Exactly the same form line for the '05 and '06 premiers from this point on. Both only lost 1 more game for the minor round and finished top. Central 15-5 and Eagles 16-4.

Interesting looking at the ladders since 2001 on footysa - 13 wins pretty much guarantees you a top 3 spot. The highest 3rd place was Sturt in 2002 with 16-4 and 12-8 has got Central, Port and Sturt in 3rd spot in the last 3 years (with North just missing 3rd spot with percentage in 2004 and 2005). 15-5 was the lowest top spot finish by Central in 2005 and highest was Central in 2002 with 18-2.

For interest sake, here is a table since 2001 for best minor round teams:
* = premiers

1 Central (2002) 18-2 64.25%
2 Central (2004) 17-3 62.9% *
3 Norwood (2002) 17-3 58.3%
4 Central (2003) 16-4 62.92% *
5 Sturt (2002) 16-4 58.74% *
6 Eagles (2004) 16-4 57.4%
7 Central (2001) 16-4 57.23% *
8 Eagles (2006) 16-4 57.2% *
9 North (2006) 16-4 55.2%
10 Central (2005) 15-5 58.41% *
