I heard they're playing a practice match at the parade tomorrow. Does anyone know what time it's going to be on?

Apparently the game starts @ 11.00 am and SA usually flog NSW because not only is it a Div 1 side against a Div 2 but an ordinary Div 2 side. The late MAL is that NSW's best player is the kid on the CROWS scholarship, Taylor Walker. The only problem for him is hes a forward and might not see much of the ball :D

Cheers mate.

Interesting to note that for this practice match alot of the blokes in the league squads e.g Ebert, Greenwood and Fairclough have been dropped to play this match.

It would appear so as in the paper this morning there were alot of outs from the League sides e.g Jaensch, Greenwood, Ebert, Fairclough with the reason being State U18's.

traditionally at this stage they have left these type of players playing league footy and trialed the rest, especially in the practice matches against the Div 2 sides, NSW actually beat SA in a trial match a couple years back because of this

what is the vibe, in regards to the strength of the SA side this year

Tired of flogging that particular dead horse, yet, JMO? Aren't you too busy packing up to move your talented boy to NSW to fast-track his career?

Only the mentally ill would do that wouldn't they SimonH.

I agree with you now. South Australian kids not good to be drafted sucked in. NSw kids not good enough lets invent a loophole where they get access to an afl list anyway.

Awesome South Australian you are SimonH.

What's your beef SimonH? JMO is passionate about the SANFL and the jounior development in the league and you're here having potshots at the bloke, well excuse him for giving a shit about the local comp!

So SimonH you agree with these dud NSW kids getting put onto AFL lists when they are clearly not good enough (flogged by SA) yet our gun kids have to wait until november with their fingers crossed hoping to get picked up?
cos to me this makes a lot of sense............NOT!

Yes, that's right, JMO. They would. And, as I said previously, if getting potential access to a special scholarship at the cost of inferior coaching and inferior competition makes good sense in your kid's development, I can also suggest moving to South Africa as a way of fast-tracking his career. So, are you on the plane or not?

Is that meant to be a sentence, or something mad people wake up screaming?

Yes, and Idi Amin was 'passionate' about Uganda. My 'beef' is simply that JMO (ex-Mark Ducker) is wrong. And that he is promoting a 'who cares about the future of Aussie rules around Australia, as long as my backyard's alright, Jack' attitude.

Gee, you guys seem to be singing from the same song-sheet! Trouble is, these tired arguments have already been laid to bed. Refer to the previous thread on this topic.

The phrase 'access to an AFL list' is meaningless nonsense. Come draft day, every registered player above a certain age across all of Australia is eligible. They are either picked (good enough) or not picked (not good enough). All of those 'guns' from SA who are missing out, and all of those NSW 'duds' being put on an AFL list? Makes sense, seeing that all club recruiting managers are trying to build bad lists with inferior players who will lose their team games, hey? Only problem is: they don't exist. Name the last 'NSW dud' who was drafted.

There are certain players (father-son picks, and kids on scholarships) where one team has first dibs, and if they pass, all other 15 teams can then select them on the open market. For all other players, all 16 teams have equal power to draft them. So, in the final analysis, every player is able to be picked by 16 clubs, but can only be picked by one. Is there something about this system you don't understand?
