Well, we've played like crap for the last 4 weeks, then we draw with Glenelg at home.
Last time we played the Eagles, we had a convincing 50 point win at Woodville.
Hopefully we can do it again, and get outta this shit house form we are in.

I'd almost be happy to take a draw and split the points.

With at least 9 on the injury list and 5 away for underage state duties, the Eagles will need to make do with what they have left. There will be no easy introductions for guys like James Stewart, Giuffreda and Pavlich. They will be expected and needed to perform. I was really impressed with Stewart's poise and skills last week. We've seen him do that for years at reserves level, but to show the same in his first league game would have given him the confidence that he can make the grade. Pavlich seems a natural footballer. It's in the blood. I remember being impressed with Giuffreda earlier in the year in the reserves. He reminds me a little of Grieger from West Adelaide. He'll make it tough for his opponent to get a kick. He has pace and attacks the contest.
A good start is critical. The last two games we have been behind all day from early in the game. We need to get a start and get some confidence. Grocke is in the form of his career. Schwarze is hitting in hard and offering a potent option up forward. Salter must work hard to provide another option going forward and Klun needs to control the packs. The midfield needs to throw some caution to the wind and run forward in numbers and kick goals. The season is on the line and there can't afford to be any excuses. Carn' the Eags!

Am very confident about this game.
Although it is always difficult to travel down to Alberton & win, what the Eagles have shown in the last 2 weeks is that their endeavour has been good.
Port not travelling all that well at present (neither are we) but...
The loss of waterhouse is a problem for them if Zak Hier can hold Hargraves.
The key to this game is the Midfield making use of Lindsey's dominence in ruck.
Eags by 21 to 30

I hope you're right LEH! Although I wouldn't be confident about Lindsay dominating ruck against Meikeljohn and Maric. They are both very good ruckman.

Will not surprise to see Maric at CHF while Miekeljohn runs with Lindsay, quelling the infulence of Lindsay around the ground, which is minimal at times compared to other ruckmen, and stretching the Eagles defence.
Should be a good game, but no September for the loser in my eyes.

Wouldn't this depend on who is fit for the Crows . Be a pity if Maric was called up because Bock and Macgregor were injured

.
I am not confident of this game too many bad memories at Alberton.

Micky, I reckon we've had a pretty good record at Alberton over the last 4-5 years

Even if the Eagles lose this game at alberton, I think they will still be in the Grand Final 2007.
The coach is a genius.
You have to time your run right....!
Very high respect for Fuller and co.......
And the Eagles Football Club....

Todays game reminded me of CD v St at Elizabeth in 2005.... Dogs fans will remember this game well...
Once good clubs remember what it feels like to win......

We would only be half a chance of getting close to the GF if most of the players are injury free.
Well, both sides should say sorry to fans today. Reminded me of many AFL matches when the close finish 'saved' the match. Although I suppose this is really due to both teams form at the moment.
I found it hard to believe we were 4 points down at the 10 minute mark of the last term. Perhaps after 3 losses and being 2.6 to 6.6 in the 3rd does that to a supporter. I'll take the win, but it was more of Port losing it than us winning it.
I'd say best for us was Cicolella, about back to where he was last year in the impact he has on matches. (Now don't get bloody injured again!)

Lindsay, yet again his mobility - I don't think his impact apart from hit outs was as good as this last year. For Port, Ah Chee - does he ever play a bad game? I don't think he has. Steven Summerton really is a class act, I reakon he would be the type of player to shine out for a team no matter the situation. Apart from that, it's really hard to define many good players from both sides due to the poor skills and turnovers.

You beauty! I couldn't care less how ugly it was (and it was very, very ugly), but to guts out a win like that was sensational!
I didn't think it could get any worse, but to see the team run out without Luke Powell and with half the team full of usual reserves players, I was just hoping we'd show something and be competitive.
Port were only slightly better than us for the first three quarters. Both teams probably would have been wiped off the park if they were playing an opposition that had a game plan that allowed their team to score. Negative footy was the theme for the day. I thought Grocke and Vince kept us in the game for most of this period. Grocke was brilliant again with his attitude and his endeavour and his athleticism. He does need to be more disciplined, as does Schwarze, because it is costly to continue to give away free kicks, but full marks for commitment.
The young blokes were great early. James Stewart, Giuffreda, Pavlich and Hier were fantastic in defence. James Stewart in particular has been really impressive. There were some very ordinary players out there as well. Was really disappointed with some of the efforts of the senior players. Fortunately everyone clicked in the last quarter and showed the team spirit which has been missing.
There was one player that really stood up in the last quarter and carried the team to victory. Hopefully this is a point in his career where he can go on to be a key midfielder. Brodie Lomas. Absolutely sensational last quarter.
My best for the Eagles in order - Grocke, Lomas, Vince, Stewart
