OK here is the final 25 man squad, must say looking at it here it aint that bad at all, quite even after the first few standouts and it is capable of winning the championships, but they will have to play their best footy to knock off the VICS.
Central:
Dylan Jesson
North:
Henry White
Matthew Wright
Kriston Thompson
Zac Millar
Dean Christie (vc)
James Wundke
Port:
Brad Ebert (c)
Levi Greenwood
Casey Carr
Tim Walsh
Rhys Clinton
West:
Hamish Hartlett
Scott Blesing
Tyson Slattery
Eagles:
Jared Petrenko
Sam Fairclough
Cody Hicks
Matthew Broadbent
Lee Staple
Glenelg:
Tom Holmes
Aaron Day
Sturt:
Alex Kinal
South:
Nick Murphy
Tom McNamara
Top 5 to watch out for are:
1) Brad Ebert
2) Hamish Hartlett
3) Tom McNamara
4) Levi Greenwood
5) James Wundke
With Matty Wright, Tom Holmes, Dean Christie and Samy Fairclough all capable of having a big influence on a game. Holmes is just sooooo smooth. Zac Millar too if he decides to turn up...he can be dangerous or terrible, never know what game he will bring. Got talent in spades but exceedingly lazy footballer. Write more on players later.

Is James Wundke the Wundke that has been playing full forward in North's league team? If so, didn't realise he was so young and he looked very impressive when I saw him play the Eagles. There is no coverage of these games on tv this year is there?

Different Wundke.
I agree its a good squad. A lot taller than the original squad picked a couple of months back.

I coached 2 of those lads at one stage in development squads - Dylan Jessen and Rhys Clinton. Well done to both of them. Must admit I am surprised by Rhys' selection, he has obviously improved in the last 2 years. Both still under 17 players.

Interesting to see the most players from North as according to some North don't know how to bring their juniors through!

Haven't brought them through yet Wedgie, they're not all playing seniors.

Can't silence the critics that easily

Gee who would of thought that 10-20 years ago when Norwood had the best junior program by far of all the clubs, when you take into consideration all there U/17 and U/19 flags.
I know I know 17s and 19s flags aren't the best indication of a successful junior program - players progressing to league footy is prettyimportant - but in teh past Norwood had all that and plenty of Teal Cup representatives...
For tehm not to have a representative in the U/18 side is a bloody rare event.

Times truly have changed haven't they.
When I was growing up, Norwood's junior success was forever the standard other clubs aimed for.
Since the late 90s, it's probably been the Eagles and West that have been the frontrunners in that area - interesting to see the respective performance of those two clubs' league sides in that time....
SMAC, only one Centrals player, that seems to be a regular thing with state squads. A concern?

In short, very concerning.
We have been working pretty hard to change the situation, but by the time you start to notice a problem at 17's/19's level, there are a few years of development squads already following the same path. Hopefully the next 12-24 months will see an improvement in this area with some real talent identified and coming through.
Dylan is the start of it, with names like Varcoe (younger brother of Travis at Geelong and a better footballer IMO) and Wittwer on the path along with a few others. Things are looking up.

If they were doing the wrong thing, I don't have a problem with the final outcome.
As has been said by another poster on a different topic, these lads have the things they can't do drummed into them constantly so if they still choose to do it they have to live with the consequences.

You would think so, but Troy has been quite conscious of keeping Josh very grounded. Still difficult when the rest of the world is telling him how good he is.

That's good to hear.
Troy's a nice bloke.
