Hey what players in the SANFL have had a lot of possessions (disposals) in a match?

Darel Hart had 57 once I believe (36k, 21h).
Simon Fitzsimmons 55.
Billy Neely had 50 (16k, 34h).
Sean O'Keeffe 50 (34k, 16h)

Last week James Allan got 46 (23k, 23h) which is a fantastic effort and it just got me thinking what high disposals getters have there been in the history of SANFL?

Yeah, that's the only times I've heard of 50+ possessions in the SANFL (at least since stats were regularly kept)

Archard and McGlone both had 40+ disposals for South against West a few weeks back. Obviously no records but it's rare to see two players get 40+ tallies in the same match.

Yeah I wish Jars never took James Allan off. What do you guys reckon he would have got if he stayed on the whole match?

Like 'scott' said it is quite rare when two players get over 40 possessions in one match. Craig Bradley and Scott Camporeale (Sp?) did it once getting 41 and 45 respectively. Barry Mitchell and Greg Williams have done it and so have Tony McGuinness and Chris McDermott (I think).

By the way I think Darren Jarman got 46 (32k, 14h) playing for North Adelaide once.

The day Darel Hart had 57 possessions he was actually tagged that day against West and also kicked a lazy 6 goals.
Obviously someone had a boom game that day as well because amazingly the esteemed men in white only gave him 2 votes.

Record match performances by Rooster players

Thanks to NAFC Historian, David O'Hara, I am pleased to share the following information and statistics with Rooster fans regarding the record numbers of disposals by North Adelaide players in particular games.

Thought you (and your many readers) may find this of interest.

Those who witnessed James Allan's ball-magnetism at Noarlunga yesterday would not be surprised he ended up recording an amazing 46 disposals for the match (including 32 in the first half). It results in Allan disposing the ball at an average of every 2.5 minutes for the entire match!!

What is surprising is that this is not the highest individual disposal display the club has witnessed by a player although it is the most since 1990.

Since 1967 when papers released individual player statistics round by round I have listed the club's highest individual ball-magnet performances. Those impressed with Allan's efforts would be stunned by the winner's package.

Incidentally, the 1990 R16 match also recorded the most disposals by the team in a match - a staggering 471 disposals (251 kicks and 220 handballs). And the result - an emphatic 180-point thumping against Sturt .

Not league but Robert Pyman had 50 something touches and kicked 6 in a reserves game in '99 i'm pretty sure.

Peter Featherby had a very productive day in Round 16, 1981 for Geelong as he racked up 51 possessions (43 kicks and 8 handballs) as well as 13 marks for the Cats in a 88-point win over Melbourne at the MCG.

IIRC Sean O'Keeffe didn't recieve a vote for his 50 possession effort last year against West Adelaide. I didn't see the game but would imagine that was quite harsh.

Any additions to this today? Anyone have a day out disposal wise?

I think Haydn Bunton Snr had about 70 possessions in a game quite a few years back, i think it must have been the WAFL, presumably the record in either of the 3 main leagues (VFL/AFL, SANFL, WAFL).
