GINIVER OUT !!!!

Ginever is a USELESS COACH.

Spelly, if Port miss the finals (very likely based on past 5 weeks), has there been a worse Port coach as far as Final Premiership Table positions goes ?

Let's no forget that Russell Ebert was sacked after 2nd '84, 6th in '85 & 4th '86 & 6th '87.

Seems to me that 'Timmy' has no clue when it comes to changing the game plan & adapting to the 'run of play'.

The move of Ah Chee on Saturday was the perfect example, too little too late.
Hargraves is finished, I reckon.

Great character win by our boys... so many out & so many kids, yet they showed great fight throughout the game. Sitting behind us on Saturday; Colville, McKenzie, Both Fiacci's, Passador, Powell, Inkster, P. Stewart... Fairclough playing U18's

Can't belive that I would ever mention the 'c' word about this team @ Alberton (as opposed to the PAP Smears), but the past 2 weeks have seen the Maggies 'CHOKE' big time.

Eagles, back in the hunt PROVIDED we beat Westies this week. 8) 8) 8)
3rd spot is there if they want it, Sturt bubble has burst in my view, not to mention they have 2 byes in 5 weeks, starting this week.

In regards to the C word , we haven't exactly extinguished that yet.

We still have a huge mountain (Everest) to climb to get anywhere close to Central, and a couple of steep hills to get near Sturt and North.

So me thinks, stones and glass houses for the next two months.

The point is this...

He was appointed on the grounds that he would be able to instill that so called "Magpie Spirit"...

I have never believed that he had the ability to do the job.

Surely, a bloke like Greg Phillips would have been a better proposition.

My comments on BOTH Ginever & Pyman are nothing new, I said last year (footysa.com) that Ginever's break time speaches to players were unispiring to say the least.

So for you to say, "put some thought into it", is somewhat rich.

Clearly, the past 2 weeks HAVE been pathetic so far as 'changing the game plan' goes & I am not convinced that he is the right man for the job.

If you Port supporters are honest with yourselves & stop living on past glories, you might see it too.

Might be more of us Port fans realising, from seeing our team week in week out that we do not have the cattle most opposition fans believe we have.Sure we have several stand out performers, but our 'bottom 6' in our league side are lacking, our depth is not what others clubs have the luxury of.

I agree Tim can be less than inspiring at the breaks, but Kutchie (Phillips) may not be the answer either.

Some blokes on big bikkies should pull the finger out and perform on a consitent basis IMHO.

Not going to argue with you Booney or any other Port fan for that matter. But excuse me for saying YOU DIDN'T HAVE THE CATTLE ON THE FIELD LAST SATURDAY.With the cattle Ronnie Fuller was without I had assumed a 10 goal loss.
Injuries can not be used as an argument by any team as all the teams have injuries .I don't need to list the eagles as LEH already has.
But it could be a case of big name players not wanting to play for the team but for themselves.

Ginever is surely safe at the moment unless someone brilliant is waiting in the wings. Also with the even-ness of clubs fighting for fourth and fifth spot on the ladder, i suspect port may still scrape into the five with 8 or even 7 1/2 wins.

i saw the sturt v port match & obviously the port v glenelg match & the port players are definately having a crack, i think their three biggest problems are running out games, leg speed, an undisciplined 'star player'

Desperately unlucky to have lost about 4 or 5 games where they were either in front or very close deep into the last quarter.

I guess it's easy to say oh yeah, he should go, (insert name) should come in, but do you really know if they will get anymore out of the players than whoever is in currently? I'm not just talking about Ginever/Phillips, but any coach and 'soon to be coach'?

A little off topic, but what's happened to Roc Harry? A former Eagle, I remember in one of his early games for Port against us he dominated. Still playing?

That's quite right. As I said, the Port players weren't giving up, probably they are just lacking fitness or something.

As a Port supporter I'd say Ginever's days are numbered if theres not a lift in the remaining weeks of the season. The side is getting leads only to succumb to fast finishing opposition sides. That says its either mental or fitness, although its probably a combination of both.

I'm not sure who the alternatives are, I'd say Craig Bradley would be number 1 priority, but his business commitments in Melbourne are possibly going to prevent any such appointment. Scott Hodges has been fairly successful at an amateur level so may be a rough chance, but i believe hes been overlooked for positions in the past so probably no chance in reality. I'd say after the disappointing Knights venture an "outsider" is perhaps unlikely. Maybe Stephen Williams after a 3 or 4 season break as a head coach may get the passion back again to do the job.
