WEST ADELAIDE’S ALEX HUTCHINS WINS ROUND 13 COCA-COLA STAR SEARCH AWARD NOMINATION
Alex Hutchins from the West Adelaide Football Club has been named the Round thirteen Coca-Cola Star Search Award nominee.
Playing in West’s backline against North Adelaide on Saturday, Alex produced his best game for the club collecting 19 possessions including 6 kicks, 13 handballs and eight marks, several of which were courageous contested marks at important stages of the match.
Progressing through West Adelaide’s underage teams, 18 year old Hutchins made his League debut in Round 15 last year. Having played 8 League matches for the Bloods in 2006, he has cemented his spot in the team this season playing all 11 League matches. A former AIS/AFL Academy Scholarship Holder in 2004, Alex has represented South Australia at Under 16 and 18 levels and was a member of the 2007 Under 20 squad.
Alex is West Adelaide’s second Coca-Cola Star Search Award nominee this season following midfielder Daniel Caire in Round 6.

Can someone explain under which of the above rules Lachlan Button from the Bays is ineligible?
Wasn't his best game last week, but he's just a kid and has been almost single handedly leading the rucks at the Bay for the last 7-8 weeks.
Must be some obvious reason for his continuing non selection, but for the life of me i can't pick it.

Perhaps because the selectors think the players that have been picked so far are better than him?

Perhaps he's been consistent rather than outstanding for one match. Because one outstanding match is all it can take. But I hope for his sake that he gets one, particularly as Glenelg hasn't had a nominated player so far.

I've told you before, Rushby - every week there has been someone who has clearly played better than Button! His best games were in round 9 vs Norwood and Round 10 vs North. Round 9 was Havelberg, and in round 10, Hunter got 6 goals and was named BOG for South. No conspiracy theories - Lachie will just have to wait his turn. Should be easier to get a nomination later in the year though, as in theory the best young players should have already been nominated.
Although now with Cranston back and in form, it will be much harder for him to get a nomination...

I reckon fosdike might get a nomination first. Most nominees have spent considerable time in the midfield.
