Mystery Man Comes to Sturt's Aid.

As reported in this week's Eastern Courier, "A mystery man has walked in off the street with a $50,000.00 cheque to clear Sturt's debt to Unley Council."

"The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, made the donation after reading about Sturt's debt in the Eastern Courier last month."

Great news for the Double Blues and makes me feel good about the generosity of people who are helping those less fortunate.

Go U Baby Blues :D :D :D

Amazing, goes to show SANFL clubs still hold some meaning for the public at large.

I trust Sturt complied with their legal duties and reported the event under the Financial Transactions Reporting Act of 1988.

Yeah, Sturt have been quite lucky in this regard. There was a similar amount donated over ten years ago. Wait til Rob Gerrard goes...the Roosters will be buying up land in Prospect and relocating Football Park...

Needs to be put in perspective a little bit. Someone who has $50K to donate to a footy club is hardly struggling to make ends meet. Wonder how much the "anonymous" person has donated to other causes that surely take greater precedence over the Sturt Football Club. The person has done a good thing for Sturt but don't make them out to be some sort of saint. Less fortunate FFS. Don't make a footy club out to be like those people, animals and causes in society that truly could use the $50K a hell of a lot more than Sturt.

As i said don't get me wrong. Each person has the right to use the money they have how they want and it is a good thing that Sturt has been supported this way. Just don't make out someone, who has a spare $50K to throw around, seem like some sort of savior for the less fortunate.

I agree with rod, it's good to see someone do this sort of thing but "less fortunate" is well over the top. Poverty stricken people who struggle to have a decent meal and are without a home are "less fortunate" not an SANFL club.

But Sturt supporters are less fortunate, when compared to Centrals, Port or Norwood.

But you are right. The money should be used for far more needy organisations, live the Salvos, Vinnies or West Adelaide...

As opposed to the conga line of red and white suckholes that appear every time Rob Gerard's name is mentioned?
