Judging by past posts on a hole heap of threads, I would have thought this would be a one horse race. Williams by a country mile.

There's plenty of suspects in this category but yes you'd think Williams would be an odds on shot to take it out.

before you cross a road check each car closely Laurie that driver isn't Harry Kernahan.....

Seriously I know it is a "tradition" to hate umpires but seriously look at the players before you look at umpires when mistakes are made..they make far fewer mistakes than each player does in a game...

umpires haven't cost my team a game yet...my players have though...(yes a decison or two has gone agaisnt us that looked bad) but the players not following team rules and missing targets with disposableare THE reasons why we lost...

And me too - he clearly favoured first West, then Port, in that order. I do remember seeing him umpire.

Actually not, he was that inept it was funny.


A group of mates and I actually deliberately went to a few games that he was umpiring in the 80's just for a laugh.

But sadly, he was dropped to the magoos and didn't turn up at all, never to return.

I think it's more of a mystery that he is singled out more than others for his peformances even though he actually is quite a good umpire. It's purely because everyone knows him; one mistake and he's had the worst game.

I met Des Foster a few years back when he was working for a charitable organisation. I thought he was a very genuine bloke FWIW

Williams grabs the top 5 for me.

Happy to call Thorpy and Arge friends of mine, two top blokes. They would both be pleased to be mentioned.

And Nev has had a few beers with the Ant and they have a good laugh about those days now.
