SANFL asked to prop up Torrens Transit Football Park Service

Postby Sojourner » Wed Jul 11, 2007 8:02 pm

According to Channel 10 news tonight, the company that runs the bus service into Football Park is running at a loss and the service in its current form is not viable. What they are asking for is the ticketing to be free of charge so that they can speed up the queue's and make it move faster by the drivers not having to sell tickets. In order to do so, the SANFL will need to shell out some cash in order to subsidise the service.

My thoughts are that it was the wrong idea to put the buses in before the Spur line from the Grange rail line to Football Park and that this is a direct result of that decision. The best way to solve the problem is to have Football Park included on the rail network on a loop, that way masses more people can be moved a lot faster rather than the current farcical situation.

In the bad, old Waverley days when you had to get a train to the end of the line then bus it to Waverley Park, you could buy a return ticket from the bus driver when you got on so you didn't have to queue for the return trip.

Agree with Sojourner that rail is the solution though.

Not the first time the SANFL would have propped up Torrens. Giving them the Woodville Football Club did the same thing *grins*

If Torrens Transit treated there drivers better they would have the men & women drivers to pick up passengers.Serco was a lot more organised.
