Another Disappointing u/18 Championship by SA

yet another thrashing, 77pts at the hands of WA

only one player that made the all-australian team, both NSW and Tas had more representatives

when will we face up to it that the u/17 and u/19 junior model does not work, the SANFL needs to develop a elite u/18 comp, focus on quality competiton and not a competition to generate numbers

the main reason is that for discipline reasons, the sturt players were missing from the team

& as for your last paragraph that may well be good for an afl elite player comp but the sanfl need players as well & the 17/19's fits the bill well & surely if that works best for sanfl clubs then thats the way it should stay because the afl do enough dictating as it is & they should leave their nose out of it

Would Tom Hurley be still eligible if he wasn't injured ?

surely the objective is to produce quality footballers, a quality u/18 comp will be more successful in producing sanfl and afl footballers...

lets be honest, their are so many players that play u/17 and u/19 who will never play league footy

so lets focus on quality, a strong u/18 competiton, those who develop later will have other avenue tos play SANFL league football

this is the same issue we face with cricket in SA, our district cricket structure is poor, too many teams, it is too easy to play district cricket, this affects the standard of competition and impacts on player development

we need a strong u/18 comp, so these kids are playing a in a high quality competition, this will greatly improve the development of these players

Who would benefit more from an U/18 SANFL competition, the SANFL or the AFL?

IMO the players would benefit most - an elite junior comp is a good way to produce elite players.

And the SANFL clubs would save on having to field 2 junior sides

I would hardly call a convincing win, a fought-out loss and a belting a "disappointing championship". Not up to expectation - probably.

I think that means expectations were too high.

We beat Vic country for the first time in how long? Were competitive with Vic metro which is unusual lately. WA have obviously fielded a cracker side this year.

Hopefully the lads have all learnt plenty about their footy - then it definitely wasn't disappointing.
