Postby bayman » Sat Jul 14, 2007 8:50 pm

to me south looked disinterested & lacklustre & we all have heard the stories, so will pyman last the season ? & if he does will he coach south next year ?

i'd think he'd last the season but will not be coach (of south) next year
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

Doubt he'll be there next year. A few players should be told they're no longer required too...

They should have stuck with Anderson the whole time! Failing that Pyman was done 2 years ago when he disillusioned several of the best players. Never got the mix right and has been more destructive than constructive over the 5 or so years he's been there.

When you get him walking in the door saying he has a 5 year deal with Sturt before last season ended just goes to show where his heart is at!!!

If he is not gone before the end of the year - it will be a joke!!!
Take some players too!!!

Interestingly Graham I agree with you there. Greg Anderson was asked by the club if he would go full time, his response was that he needed another year to get his business running properly before he could go full time, South then terminated his contract as a result, I felt at the time that it was the wrong thing to do, what other coach puts his own money in sponsoring the club that he coaches? I had no doubts to Andersons commitment to the jumper. When the incident happened with Pyman "re-negotiating" and holding the club to ransom over losing him to Sturt, I knew then we had problems and to be honest hoped that he would go to Sturt. Still he didnt and here we are again......

John Schneebichler is my choice for coach of the club, if he is unavailable, Luke Darcy if he does retire at the end of this season. Whoever we get it has to be someone that has worn the jumper of the club.

Secondly I hope that the club will finally wake up and realise that starting the season with the best side of VFL players that money can buy is not the road to success. Interstate Recruiting is ripping our club apart by putting a high number of players into the club that dont play for the jumper but for the financial return.

I would like to see South recruit from only their city and country zones, spending their money on getting some specialist skills coaches into the club. Brad Hunter kicked 6 goals for South in a recent match, he was recruited from Reynella. give a lad like that access to the best skills coaches we can find and that is going to be a better road to success for us.

The other point that I would like to make is that I think that our recruiting officials may think that if a player is dropped from an AFL side, then that makes them a first class SANFL player. Some players do make it that is true, yet many do not either. A poor player in the AFL will at least be fed the ball direct on the chest, to get possessions in the SANFL that player has to work a lot harder, if they are a passenger in the AFL side then there form is hardly going to be great in the SANFL as is the case at South at the present.

You'd need to offer Bickley $200K per year for him to consider it worth his while. TV pays big $$$.

I heard a bloke at the ground say that Daniher was at the game today. (could have been FOS)

Any truth in the rumour? I didn't see him...

TV does pay a lot, which Andrew Jarman knows well. There's more to this than $$ though. Bickley might think it's worthwhile doing, and if he is allowed to dictate terms of how much time he spends at the club South may be able to strike a deal he thinks is worth it without ruining his media commitments too much. IMHO he's exactly the perfect cantidate ATM for the SAFC. If they have to be creative and come to an agreement where he's a part time coach and misses a training session every now and then I would have thought it would be a huge win for South.

A few good points there Sojourner. You guys have the money, you just need to find the right areas to spend it in. It seems like you have the right idea. Not sure if your next coach necessarily needed to have worn a South Guernsey before. You just need to find someone who can command the respect of the players and is in it for the love of the game and the club he's working for. By the sounds, Anderson fitted that mold.

I agree. Bickley would be the type of personality you'd want there. Is a South boy but has the winning culture instilled in him from his AFL experience.

There are ex players around though with no AFL history who could do the job. MacGowan is a perfect example...

I would welcome him back with open arms that is true, yet in his case South did the wrong thing by him and is the club that owes him a sincere apology over it. Yet if he was willing to come back in spite of that, that would be great!

With the remark about the next coach being someone that has worn the jumper, I think that the last few coaches have been from other clubs, I think that this time it is time to look within for a change.

Schneebichler was Souths best player in his day by a long way, he has coaching experience also.

Luke Darcy's father coached South Adelaide in the late 1960's, his family are well attatched to the club. He is a great player for the Western Bulldogs and I think he would be a huge asset for South if we could manage to convince him to take it on.

What coaching experience has Schneebichler had?

I think it starts from the coach but the committee has alot to answer too!!!
Where are the so called answers we were told we would hear at the start of the year if we were not successful? All hot air as I have not heard one!!!!

Alot of players I would get rid of as well. Keep the ones that are wanting to stay and love playing for South Adelaide.
