After the results of the Weekend, it looks like Sturt will start favourites for this game at the Playground.

North will win by plenty, if you can get anything better than $1.60 for North jump on and put the house on it!
North haven't lost 2 in a row for a long long time.

I could be wrong but I just checked the records and I think we haven't lost 2 in a row since Rd 22 and Rd 23 in 2005.

over the last few weeks i and many sturt fans on here and db.org have wanted the north scalp to prove that we are contenders and not pretenders. I still feel that way even after todays results. North will be pumped up after this loss and will come out firing. Sturt on a high after a 110 pt win and we just have to keep that style and pressure going.

I hate to say it all the time but this game should be a cracker, i remember those games in 2004 at unley and prossie, so close and high scoring unfortunately both north wins but those games were brilliant footy spectacles for the purist. With ricky in charge now, its a little diff to sticks so will be interesting to see how he goes. He got out coached last time with some wierd moves he made but i hope this time he has it down pat since we have had a bit more success leading up to this game unlike last time we played north.

Im confident this week and feel that the majority of footy fans out there will think sturt should start favs. Most north fans will say they will brush us off easily as they have said previously here and on the roost. I just want the blues to carry over this weeks form and prove that we can take it up to north who we havent beaten in a few years, rd 2 2005 maybe????

should be a cracker and cant wait!!! go you blue boys, its starts now!!!!!

I don't recall north fans saying we will brush you off easily Jimmy. Couold be wrong though.

I think Sturt have done more than enough to prove to everyone that they are the real deal this season.

As for North, it depends which North turn's up and it depends which team Jars picks. Today, we had the wrong team, and they just didn't turn up. Result, easy win to Port.

North need to get back to basics. Play their fast running game, and put some faith in the youngsters at the back who have served us so well this year. With a bit of luck Weatherley might be back after kicking 9 in the Two's today. Only downside, he was reported.

I think Ladhams needs a rest in the 2's and I would drop McIntyre in there too for a couple of games. White looks like he has a broken hand and may be out for the rest of the season (Gee he has been unlucky) and Allan is carrying an injury from a couple of weeks back.

One thing for sure, we need to fired up for this one or we will get an ar5ekicking.

I know it's too soon to be talking about team selection but................ if it were me and depending on availability

F Wundke, Perrie (if available), Weatherley
HF Younie, Alleway, Gill (if available)
C Ryswyck (if fit), Kreig, Bamford
HB Ivens, Schubert, Sporn
B Cubillo, Gallman, Delvins

Ruck O'Hara, Howard, Allan

Interchange Wakelin, Kaesler, Coulter

We have missed No Vowels on the left since he copped an injury, but according to the SANFL site he was 2 weeks away in round 14 so hopefully he will be back.

(edit: swapped Gallman for Schubert)

I'd play this side:

F Wundke, Gill, Ladhams (if attitude is right and also is fit?)
HF Younie, Alleway, Motlop (if attitude is right and also is fit?)
C Ryswyck (if fit?), Sporn, Bamford
HB Coulter, Schubert, Ivens
B Grose, McIntyre (has to come good eventually), Delvins

Ruck O'Hara, Howard, Allan

Interchange Wakelin, Krieg, Kaesler.

In: Schubert/Delvins/Ryswyk (if fit) and atttidue and mental toughness for all 21!
Out: Perrie/Hart/B. White and the prima donna attitude for a few!

Weatherley needs another run in the two's plus he got reported for absolutely smashing a blokes face in yesterday so he will miss at least one?

Perrie will go back to the Cows
Brett White has broken his hand (bad luck to him again!)
Hart - despite being named in the paper in North's best against Port???, he is past it and we have been winning without him - given that 3 of our losses have been the only 3 games he has played!

I felt for Benny Hart yesterday. I thought he played well and worked very hard at both ends of the ground. For his troubles and effort he copped a bit of a spray from the supporters (isolated but it was there-couldn't tell if it was Port or North TBH). Don't know why there's this animosity towards him but it's there you only have to read this site.

Well played yesterday Benny!

Let's hope Ryswyck is out... He killed us last time we met...

I've got a great feeling about this game (which is a worry in itself!). I think a lot of people have underestimated Sturt for too long this year. After beating the dogs we proved that we're contenders, yet there were still the cries that Sturt weren't the real deal. Who haven't we beaten this year? Eagles and North. How many times have we played them? Once each. As North showed yesterday teams have days when they're simply not on song. I believe we were also a less cohesive team in the earlier stage of the season...

We have players like Bratton, Darling, O'Keefe, Crane, who aren't household names (yet) but are rarely beaten. From the sounds of things not all's well down at Prospect (Ladhams, Motlop, etc). If we can't beat you on Sunday then I think our hopes of playing a GF this year are significantly diminished.

Let's hope the Crows missed Mattners game on Saturday... :) It'd be great to have him feeding the forwards again...

Go you mighty Double Blues!

Talking about betting Odds

Thorntons have to win the premiership

Central 1.75
Sturt 5
North 6

Now historically one team from the top 3 after the minor round wins the premiership.

I can't see the top three at the moment changing

The sum of the inverse proportions for Central + Sturt + North = .9381

Therefore the opportunities are there to take Thornton to the cleaners ( provided the GF is between these 3 teams ( which is highly probable)

So who is in?

I'd say Sturt $1.80, North $1.90.

Remember that classic game at Unley in 2004, before we smashed North in the 1st Semi :D :D :D

See you Sunday, Wedgie 8) 8)

Not me - historically it probably is about 93.81% of the time that the premier comes from the top 3 teams after the minor round. (cue Spelly )
Plus, there is still a chance that the Eagles will catch either North or Sturt and make the top 3 anyway.

So really, I don't think that Thornton is that far off the mark.
