Rd 18 North v Norwood day change

Postby Wedgie » Tue Jul 24, 2007 6:08 pm

Round 18 - Now Saturday!

The SANFL granted a request to change the date of our next Home Match against Norwood from Sunday to Saturday August 5, 2007.

This change means we will play Saturday afternoon football in the lead up to this year's final series. Based on feedback from Rooster supporters who prefer Saturday footy, we are sure most will welcome this change.

I'd say it would be 2pm start (as ABC would have already booked another game in for 2.15 slot), will advise of radio coverage next week.

It better be on radio. I'm going to be overseas for this one and i can't remember the last time i missed a game. The withdrawals will be hard enough even with radio let alone without it :?

I know I might be out of line after this comment but less than 2 weeks notice for a game day change is pretty piss poor. (Round 23 being an exception).

I, like many other footy fans, usually like to plan other social events around footy and although I should still be able to attend the game, I'd be pretty f'n annoyed if it clashed with something else.

You're not out of line but Im assuming you're doubly annoyed every year at the end of Rd 22 when they haven't even decided what day/s Rd 23 is on?

Stupid part about it is North requested all home matches be on Saturdays before the program was even put out, Im not sure what has changed since late last for the SANFL to change their mind.

The Eagles vs West game a few weeks ago was changed at the last minute to a Saturday as well. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come for next years fixturing. More Saturday's! When I was playing footy I used to like the Sunday games - it gave me a chance to watch SANFL - but now I'm a winter weekend recluse, nothing beats Saturday arvo footy. Thankfully the Eagles play every Saturday arvo from now on till Round 23.

Just ruined my chance of seeing one game of the year live. North really need to be more considerate of interstate fly-ins on tight timetables...

Can't please everyone all of the time.
Since the draw was released the has been no end of complaints about the Sunday games, for everyone like yourself, there would be at least 10 that are much happier with a Saturday game.

Thats not the point Ian.
With more notice SimonH may have been able to shuffle his timetable around. What if support staff of the clubs had been set to work elsewhere on Saturday due to the game originally set on Sunday. Wont look good to their employers if they have to change their schedules.
The arguement here is not whether we have games on Sat or Sun, its the late notice of the day change.
Fortunately for me, I can still make it.

Game day changes happen to me a couple times this year as well. Plan to do something, then have to change things around.

I have to agree with HBT and SimonH here. The issue is not whether the game is played on a Saturday or Sunday rather the late notice given. I hate Sunday games but once the draw has been finalised it should stay that way barring extraordinary circumstances. Great to see the SANFL listening to the supporters and thinking about scheduling but these changes should be reflected in next years draw not now. It isn't an issue for me but if i was in the position like Simon H or reddenwhites i'd be pretty pi55ed off.

Count me as unhappy with this as well. I make plans based on the schedule provided and this kind of last minute change buggers everything up.

But I'm probably just bitter as it's at North's request! :D

The West v Glenelg reserves has been moved to 11am on the same round, even less notice so I hope that doesn't stuff anyone's plans up. :?
