How did Wayne Weideman get the coaching gig?

Postby NFC » Wed Jul 25, 2007 2:24 pm

Hearing him on the ABC as I watched the replay of the very enjoyable game on Saturday, I asked myself how on earth this man was even given the coaching job in the first place. He would have to be one of the worst communicators for a coach going around and surely this would be a major requirement for someone in his position?

Elsewhere after about 4 or 5 rounds last year I said he should’ve been sacked as I could see the club was going nowhere, and they’ve finally made the right move but it’s come far too late. Shouldn’t have been appointed in the first place and now they will have to clean us his mess.

I think it's time we stopped using coaching records in Tassie as an indicator. :?

Also took his team to Preliminary final, not even comparing apples with apples!

I must admit I thought Weed struggled behind the Mic, but being appointed to coach a team requires vastly different ability to calling a footy match.

Two Words

1 S Rehn

2 D Thomas

Footnote
After the last two years of the Weed, I reckon its DT who owes the club money and not the club that owes DT money

The fact is it was given to the Weed on S Rehn's recommendation, word is all was in place by S Rehn when he left and the Weed decided his game plan was better

The team was in disarray before he even got the gig. The problem was he didn't manage to do anything to change what was happening

Most of you are correct, in Rehns first year the side almost coached itself it was so full of talent.

Appointing Weed was one of the more disasterous decisions by Doug (and he made many)

I cant help but laugh when I hear Rehn is hopeful he will get one of the vacant AFL gigs. An absolute (as a coach) joke, but then again so is the present guy

You know, when I first started saying that there were some awfully angry people saying I'd lost my marbles.

But looking back, the West team of 2003 was pretty impressive. Some of the players were just kids but gee there were some top players there.

Coorong state the facts, Doug Thomas and co appointed him on s rehns advice, it was NOT just dougs choice and that is the truth

Coorong good one again to attack s rehn as a coach

1 Year one, GF lost to centrals (1st since 1983 GF appearance)
2 Year Two, We still made the finals
3 Year three, was a disaster

Coorong he was not that bad a coach, He s rehn made a critical error in judgement by not recruiting, this did set us back, he put his faith in the squad and juniors, in that time he was thumped by the draft which hurt us badly but as a coach he was ok, better than his replacement i agree.
