Which clubs could be looking for a new coach come the end of this year?

West obviously but you'd have to think there's every chance South and Norwood will be joining them as well given South's current predicament and Hill's in his last year of a two year contract at The Parade. Given rumblings elsewhere on this site maybe Port and North might join them with both Ginever and Jarman under pressure for different reasons. Fuller is a year to year proposition and Laird's name keeps coming up as a potential retiree as well.

Glenelg and Sturt seem quite stable, now there's a turn up, but could we be in the unusual position of having four or five clubs looking for coaches at the same time?

Apparently Norwood were after him in 1980, but Sheedy wanted to play 1 more year for Richmond and Balme was hired instead.

You would imagine that at some point the Board of the NAFC will come to the conclusion that ANJ has taken them as far as he can. It's one thing to play with flair and attacking football but when the opposition have the ball and keep in mind they won't be playing West or South in a final so the opposition will be better apt at getting hold of it you need to do some defensive work and his game style and coaching doesn't allow for that. At the end of the day with the wealth of resources and subsequent quality recruits he's acheived very little. He's done his job, move him on.

Ginever and Greg Phillips from the senior and reserve
positions at the end of the year.

Many on the Roost have compared him to Phil Carman and his job at Sturt with someone taking over to take the club the extra step.

I compared Jars to Alan Stewart at the Dogs about 12 months ago and still believe this to be the case.

I don't think it makes Jars a bad coach as he has taken the side from nowhere to regular finalist from day 1 - a great achievement. Someone else will need to finish the job.

Absolutely, don't confuse my thoughts with being a sledge - far from it. He had to take over a group of players who's pride and egos had been kicked around by a previous coaching panel and a club who's future was in doubt through lack of finances. He's been an integral part of changing that around and given credit where credit's due but...........it'll take some new tricks to finish the job.

We don't have a flag to prove me wrong - but when I read posts saying 'North will have failed if we don't win the flag in 2007' I get the sense that some of us are setting massive hurdles just wanting him to fall short.

It also ignores the fact that Centrals have bounced back stronger than we all thought they would - is it still a failure for North if Centrals take it out this year?

Given the Centrals factor I (Robinson Crusoe) am prepared to allow at least one more season (if needed) to make an assessment on whether Jars, and more importantly the players, can do it. Geez, in 2004 we were an embarrassing rabble.

In 2004 we played finals. Hardly an embarrasing rabble.

We have got to the finals a few times now. Last season was probably our best chance but unfortunately injuries and circumstance consipred against us. The same coach, the same result suggests that what other on this thread have suggested. Rotter summed it up perfectly i think.

I also think injuries have hampered us this season BTW. If 'injuries and circumstances' last season played against us how can we conclude yet Jars can't get us over the line?

Not over yet is very true. I hope i am wrong.

Injuries can partly be attributed to the coach. Circumstance can also be partly attributed to the coach. Read into that what you will.
