SANFL ground sizes

Using google maps, I've been able to construct precise images of each and every SANFL ground. The dimension figures and pictures are determined and drawn from boundary line to boundary line, and not from fence to fence.

Each of these diagrams are of equal scale when compared to each other. Not exactly sure what the scale is to real life, probably 1:1200 or thereabouts assuming I carried all the ones correctly in my head just then.

Great work.
It would appear that :
Alberton, Glenelg, Noarlunga, Prospect and Thebarton are the only true oval shaped ovals.
Norwood, Richmond, Footy Park and Unley are nearly oval shaped.
Elizabeth & Woodville are rectangles with rounded corners, (must be 60's ovals)
I'm not really sure how you would describe Adelaide's shape.

Footy park is quite short compared to others.

If you said to average bloke in a pub that its only 2 metres longer than norwood they wouldnt believe you.

footy park and alberton very similar.

I was cutting open a water melon last night, and it was an exact scaled down replica of Prospect Oval.

I took a photo.

I think this is a sign of the second coming of Barrie.

That is surprising about footy park, especially as a lot of commentators say it is one of the bigger grounds in the AFL.

Didn't know Thebarton was as wide as that, considerably the widest oval in the league. Although the lenght of ovals also makes them look wider, esp around the forward flanks.

Prospect looks more like an egg than a watermelon IMO.

Should Adelaide Oval have the SACA logo on it?

A velodrome with a start finish straight along the members wing?

Thats how it got its shape anyway!
