Looks like we've got the replacement for Doug writing today, Candice Keller.
Only a short filler on the Eagles v North game but nothing wrong with the article.
I give her a pass mark and look forward to seeing how she goes, it might be nice to have a different writer for a change.
I hope the various people at the clubs give her as much access as Doug got, but Im sure they will.
Good luck Candice. Keep up the good work or you'll have us lot on your back*.
It'd be good to get some background information on her, I'll see what I can dig up.

wedgie: extract from the barossa herald in 2003
From a shy and quiet Greenock Primary School student, Candice Keller has turned full circle.
The 16-year-old took home Nuriootpa High School's highest honour last Wednesday night, the Lions Club of Barossa Valley Coulthard Prize, at the annual Year 12 presentation night.
Quiet and unassuming in her primary years, Candice skipped Year 2 due to her early academic ability and teachers then considered holding her back before entering high school. On moving into the secondary ranks, she soon found her feet.
Since Year 8, Candice has been involved with a wide range of extracurricular activities including music, dance and drama productions, debating teams, maths and science competitions and the student representative council.
This year she was SRC president, attended the Stargroup Youth Leadership Camp and the National Youth Science Forum.
The Coulthard Prize is the highest honour a Nuriootpa High student can receive, and is awarded to the person, in the opinion of principal Pat White, who has given the greatest service to the school and other students during their secondary career.
Candice also received subject awards for Australian History, Indonesian and English Studies, as well as the DD Sporn Scholarship for achieving distinction in study. She said the secret behind her success was combining work and social activities.
apparently went to the sunday mail and now writes for the advertiser sections of movie and music reviews and now football writer. must be only 20-21 years old?

Thanks for the run down on her Maggies, ironically it sounds like she's very talanted and has an interest in just about everything except for sport!

That would be about right!

But I think it's fair that every should give her a go, because she might be an astute football writer for all we know. Good luck to her.

Geez that CV just about means that anyone can get a gig reporting on Football!
Being from the Barossa she might be a Central's fan but that's not in her CV and I wonder how many games she has spent on the terraces at Elizabeth - none or not many would be my guess?
You never she could become the "Caro" of the SANFL scribes one day!

No, that's part of the criteria to get a job reporting football!

But again, I'm not going to pass judgment on her skills already.

On the plus side, it sounds like she's a Croweater.
This fact alone means she's eminently better qualified to comment on SA sport than halfwits like Jasper Feelstick.

Unrelated..
Just something I picked up from looking at the paper today- Scott Walsh who reviewed the south/dogs game on saturday (and i'm assuming choose the best players for each club) had Warren and Hunter as south's 2nd and 3rd best. Between them they had 6 kicks

I know that kick tallies arent the measure of a good game, but i found this extremely odd, especially as these blokes got a mention infront of Munkara, Thewlis and ellis who all had very good games.

LOL he (Walsh) also said in what is normally Ben Hooks column, that Kerls was coaching Torrens in the 60's (in relation to one of the SA hall of fame inductees, player from West Adelaide).

Hook is apparently overseas at the moment, Squawk. Interesting that his name disappeared off the column though.
