Sturt and North in Round 23 should be on a Friday night!

Postby spell_check » Sat Aug 25, 2007 10:58 pm

hondo and I brought this up in the Central/Sturt thread, but if it turns out that North and Sturt are playing off for the double chance next week (provided Sturt lose to Glenelg, North beat West and Eagles beat South), and Chambers is on 99 goals coming into Round 23, this has huge potential to be a 10,000 crowd!

That is if the match is a stand alone game on a Friday night, because I'm sure this will attract quite a few neutral fans like myself who want to see Chambers kick his 100th.

LMAO. North gave up any hope of top 3 today. Sturt won't have any trouble with the Gays next week. They aren't that good. Anyone who has ideas of North still finishing top 3 is kidding themselves. If North does by some miricle finish in the top 3 it reflects very poorly on the standard of the SANFL.

It's not meant to be a joke, the only people who seem to write North off are North fans. ;)

Not me! Yet ....

RR, doesn't matter how bad we feel after today, that last round, double-chance scenario is a very real possibility

(which could be nipped in the bud a week early if you are right about Sturt next week)
In between signatures .....

Don't get me wrong. North's best is good enough to beat anyone on their day. Trouble is that to win, let alone make a GF, a side needs to perform consistently. North simply are not capable of this. We may well come out and smash West, then Sturt (although the later is very unlikely) but the fact is something that was in our control before today is now out of our hands.

Honestly what side would fear coming up against North? Honest question too. Why would they?

I believe that Friday night is Adelaide United's first home game against Melboure Victory and the first AFL final will be then also with a huge chance the Crows will play as they play this Friday night and that would give them a 7 day break

They wouldn't play it on a Saturday Night there? Worth a shot.

Yeah, that was another what if, pending the schedule. But after last year, it wouldn't be a surprise to see another Saturday final for either Crows or Power.

BTW I think all the games for the last round should be played on the same day. There shouldn't be any advantage of an extra day rest leading into finals.

That did not stop Central last year. Or South for that matter. It sounds the most reasonable thing, but I'm adamant that football is played mostly in the mind.

It'd want to attract a few neutral fans as the North fans wont give a rats.

Gee,is anyone going to give Adelaide Oval security a quiet word on football traditions and folklore .If the lad gets his 100th at Adelaide Oval the North fans not at the "Cathedral" will have the place to themselves after everyone gets turfed out. ......I know the North groggies have admiration for the job they do at Adelaide Oval security

Ok, Chambers got his 100th, but gee whiz Studley, this game should still definitely be on Friday night, with the double chance at stake!
