I think the scheduling of the sports seasons seems to be influencing people's perceptions. If McDermott and Wildy were on in footy season it would be 95% football as it is with Rowey and Cornesy.

The summer show is a sort of lazier, less structured and more laid back format. I heard Wildy on the radio earlier than the show saying that most days they are just winging it and hoping they get enough callers to pad out the show. I think that lends itself to a different style of show from the one in footy season. Natually it ends up being a more rounded sports show but that's a function of the time of year rather than Wildy and Bone.

Good observation Hondo
"A no vote from any club means there is some sort of risk involved in our entry into the competition not working," Steven Trigg.

i understand what your saying & it has plenty of merit, however i think the 'summer duo' is a better show because callers do not get ridiculed or cut off for having a differing opinion as to me every opinion no matter how way off beam some may think still has the right to be aired if that caller has spent his/her money to ring up...even chris the eagles supporter, or MALcolm the norwood man who knows everything (usually does) ;)
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

I think McDermott though is too much the other way. Mr yep, yep, yep, thanks for calling. He never disagrees with anything a caller says! Last night a caller rang in with an opinion on the AO redevelopment. Bones says "I hear you, thanks for calling" and then hung up. He then goes on to completely disagree with the what the caller said in the follow up discussion with Wildy. The difference is that Cornesy will actually disagree with the caller duing the call itself. Then you get the arguments sometimes but I quite enjoy the banter. Wildy speaks up a little more in fairness.

I also think the type of caller is different with the summer team. Some of this is Cornesy's own fault because he is provocative and asks for it but he and Rowey get the riled up callers who have the crazy opinions or just want to argue with them. Bone and Wildy get all the calm, sensible callers and they have these bland chats with all this yep, yep, yep. I think the odd argument and Cornesy hang up of the caller is OK in moderation.

All the opinionated footy tragics come out of hibernation when summer's over

Bone, for all his big opinions, shouldn't be so cautious about not upsetting any of the callers I reckon!

I barely listen to 5AA at all these days.

I was watching tv footage (on the evening news) of the Crows v Fremantle trial a couple of weeks ago. They also played AA's coverage of the game for the minute or so of the story. It was simply embarrassing the way they, especially Rowe (Wildy I think think was another voice), carried on.

In between ads, more ads and then Cornes reading (badly) yet more ads I just switch off.. Cornes knows' it all, Rowe gives me the "tom tits" with his rhyming slang and Cliche's (that he stuffs up). They are embarrassing when it comes to interviewing anyone that doesn't play footy.. when their lack of knowledge and lack of care shines through.

Yes we will see how tonight goes with the promise of Matty Primus being on, see if he gets the same air time Trigg and Van Berlo got.

Rowey is a peanut and I can't stand him. You're pretty easily pleased if you like listening to him crap on every weekday arvo.
So you've seen everything have you?
Yep
Have you ever seen a man eat his own head?
No
Well you haven't seen everything then have you.

Listened to 'Rush Hour' this evening. When I turned it on, it was the end of a song, and then the interview with Gary Lyon. My first reaction was 'ugh not Lyon' but I enjoyed the interview. Then the segment with Jars was great. Caught the start of the Primus interview as well, and it was fantastic.

All up, I rate Rush Hour, and is far better than the 5AA Sports Show. For starters, Ditts and Roo were having genuine conversation and discussion about the issues in sport (predominantly football), rather than Rowey going OTT and Cornesy opening his mouth to change feet (and he's gotten 10 times worse since KG got boned). Ditts and Roo are a hell of a lot more respectful towards their guests than Cornesy. I also think Ditts and Roo are a good balance (with Ditts for the Power and Roo for the Crows).

Also, there's a sports update every 15 minutes (including traffic report), whereas the traffic report on 5AA is only every half an hour. A great format because in amongst the sports discussion, you're getting the latest traffic info (and seeing as the bulk of listeners will be tuning in their cars on their way home from work, this is important).

Although you do get music in between the convo, I actually don't mind it - far better than the endless ads you get on 5AA, and MMM have decent music. Even with the music, with segments like the sports update, there's more sport content on Rush Hour than the 5AA Sports Show.

Great job MMM, I'll now be a regular listener to this show. With the number of people who loathe the 5AA Sports Show but listen to it because it's the only drive time sports show in town, I reckon Rush Hour will be a success and will take a fair chunk of 5AA's ratings
They don't keep me here because I'm gorgeous and 5'10

Might as well as have a poll asking what's more fun, having your eyes poked out with burning embers or having your balls hacked off with a rusty knife.
