Have seen Juno, Fools Gold and Mr Magorium's Wonder Emporium in the last month or so.

Juno - great film, the writers sense of humour came in a pretty close match to mine. Story was also nicely developed. A couple of cringeworthy moments, but one of the best movies I've seen in some time. Bateman played his part very well, Alison Janney was also very good.

Fools Gold - Ran perfectly to the formula. Got to see Kate Hudson in a bikini for most of the movie, can't expect much more than that.

Mr Magoriums - Great movie for the family, some funny moments, some sad moments, lots of colour and managed to keep little miss smac (4) entertained. Great performance by Jason Bateman (again) and Dustin Hoffman plays the kook to a tee.

Just watched Rambo today (the 4th one), thought it was excellent, second best instalment next to First Blood.
The scenes were more bloody and glory than Saving Private Ryan. The last action scene was great when Rambo takes control of a machine gun and gun down an army of Burmese soldiers.

The King of Kong

Surprisingly compelling good (Steve Weibe) vs evil (Billy Mitchell) story about the fight to become Donkey Kong World Champion.

Apparently plays fast and loose with the truth...

'Rambozo the Clown'
Jello Biafra was spot on when he wrote the lyrics to that DEAD KENNEDYS classic!
Looks like it's back to the Eightie's All-American, flag waving, bigotted, Right-Wing action flicks eh?
Golan Globus (aka Cannon Films) are sure to make their comeback soon enough too!

One other thing, if you look back to RAMBO III...
The All-American good guy was helping out the Taliban!
(Naughty Johnny!)

Watched Carver last night.
Probably the sickest and goriest movie I've ever seen.
I thought the SAW movies were bad, well they look like the sound of music compared to this.

Venus - very funny and touching (emotionally and physically!) Peter O'Toole in yet another Oscar nominated role.

Nacho Libre copped a lot of flak but I've gotta admit, I cracked up the whole way through. For once, Jack Black wasn't being Jack Black, mugging shamelessly. It's made by the same director as Napoleon Dynamite so it won't suit everyone.

Birdman of Alcatraz - a classic.

Spiderman 3 had its moments but is bloated at 133 minutes. Needs to lose Sandman and about 30 minutes for any future Director's Cut. How many times can they rehash the Green Goblin/Mary Jane storyline?

Can't wait to see The Counterfeiters...

If you liked Snatch and Lock, Stock... then check out Layer Cake. Runs along a similar vein, but more orientated around drug trade.

Sweet!

Less humorous, more gritty and definitely worth watching is the Pusher trilogy, a series of Danish (anti-)gangster films.

Apocalypto think it was produced by Mel Gibson. All subtitles but was very enjoyable. Best movie i've seen in a while.
