Packed to the Rafters

Postby A Mum » Thu Oct 08, 2009 7:28 am

Who watches this show??

I love it.

I think it's pretty close to the bone of scenarios that do happen in family life these days.
From all reports proving to be a hit with the viewers.

Not to mention that I love Rebecca Gibney and Erik Thomson anyway!

Must admit had a tear in my eye at the end of this weeks show.
Probably because I saw it from a mums point of view.

The son has just made one of the biggest mistakes of his life...
And how the dad walks straight past his son with not more than a glare,
And then mum is the one there to give her son a big comforting hug, her heart breaking for him
You get what you give....

Have to confess that its a part of my weekly TV....love the show also and always find something in there to chuckle about and enjoy watching immensely.

(also a big Neighbours fan though and barely miss an episode )
Can you guess where I'm calling from, the Las Vegas Hilton...

I watched it in its first season but gave up on it 4 weeks ago, its lost the plot. The missus gave up on it last week too.
I understand the writers are under considerable pressure to return it to its original format, if it does I might consider watching it again.
Used to be a good family show but the 2nd season was turning into pathetic poorly written sleazy crap when I tuned out. Shame as I used to watch it with the kids but wont let them near it now.

Funny you say that,
Last week my husband said,
I think this show has lost the plot.

I'm sure they'll get back on track :D

Didn't realise you were younger than me, sorry there Boonster!
It's out on DVD, do yourself a favour, TV at its best when Queen Bea, Lizzy and Doreen start a riot in the laundry.
Ahh god bless mum for letting me watch it as a kid!

just getting completely off topic - watching Prisoner from go-to-whoa at the minute, I'm up to season 23.

Brucetiki has the whole series (40 dvd's) signed by Val Lehmann.

It just happened to be my luck that the only episode of this show that I watched saw that nice girl on the right outside in her red singlet. It must have been a bit chilly during the shoot......... I thought the show (or that episode to be exact) wasn't so bad....
I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.

One of very few shows that i watch every week, havent missed an episode since it started (dunno what that says about me  )

This year has certainaly got into a few more full on storylines....personally dont have an issue with that ...but can understand for people with kids who watched it that it may have been pushing the limits a bit.

Seems alot of Australians hate Australian TV...maybe it reminds us too much of our own life!!
Personally find shows like Rafters, All Saints, City Homicide, Seapatrol much more engaging that CSI and its multiple personalities.
Trust the process.

Reakon that's a big reason why Rafters is such a big hit.

While every other local show is about cops, docs and lawyers, Rafters is about the people next door.

Viewers identify with the show because they know the people in it...

It's also because it's about 'reality' and not a reality television show that makes it so popular.
As for going down hill because of the 'sex'.....the first episode featured a dude on drugs. The second episode saw him smashing stuff up because he was on drugs.
