Survivor: Series 21 Nicaragua

Postby skywalker » Wed May 26, 2010 3:05 pm

The 21st season, as host Jeff Probst announced during the reunion episode on Sunday, will take place in the largest country in Central America, Nicaragua.

"It is a land of impenetrable terrain, smoking volcanoes and savage wildlife," the narrator says. It is also the land which Chrisopher Colombus discovered and was almost captured by Spain. Unlike "Heroes vs. Villains" and other all-star editions, "Survivor: Nicaragua" would star "a brand-new set of survivors." No date yet for the premiere.

In January, CBS ordered two more seasons, the 21st and 22nd, making "Survivor" television's longest-running reality competition series. Rumor has it, the 22nd installment will also take place in Nicaragua and be built around the theme "second chances", meaning it may feature previous seasons' players who didn't get far in their respective seasons.

Currently, the Italian celebrity version of the series, L’Isola dei Famosi (The Island of the Famous), is filming off on the Pearl Cays, “a small cluster of remote islands three miles off Nicaragua’s southern Caribbean coast." It’s not clear if CBS’ version will film there, too, but the remote location combined with facilities that can support a production makes it somewhat likely.

I'll see what the chicks are like, but I won't be watching this one. They're certainly milking it for all it's worth!

Will be hard to top the Heroes vs Villains. I only just got back into it after many years. I'll give this one a go. It usually takes a while to warm to the contestants.

Started yesterday. Mildly interesting twist. Some really nice eye candy. Some hideous old buzzards.

Set to air here from next Tuesday.

I used to wait and download the lot so i could watch em in one go, not sure I'll be able to hold off, too many spoilers floating around these days, especially now that channel 9 is starting to push it again, can't avoid the adds.

Yeah 2nd episode is available now via torrents. Just finished watching it... It surprises me that all these new contestants, after 21 seasons, haven't learnt how to play the game properly. I don't mean lighting a fire Yauman style, nor spear fishing like Richard Hatch but actually playing the social game.
With that... a slight deflection to the next topic!

This series is going down fast. There are no real characters to root for. No personalities etc

Agreed, when they booted JJ early on it lost a lot.
They are trying to make Nay into the next Russell, but she's simply a dumb b!tch rather than a somewhat intelligent schemer that doesn't mind **** you and everyone else over.
Brenda goes alright.

They are almost at the point that they need to film 4 a year and only put on the good ones.
The game itself has lost a lot of its brilliance (Exile got boring, they tried this new pendent of power but it didn't really work), and it basically now comes down to the people. You are naturally going to get a few dud seasons where the play is predictable or the characters you wanted to play up got booted early.
2nd chances could potentially make a better season but that's still only a one off.

Tough to keep it new and interesting after 20+ seasons, I'm sure they'll come up with something.

Something I thought they might've tried by now is going in as one tribe from the start, with all challenges being individual, no team against team whatsoever. Then instead of merging at halway, split them into two tribes for a while, then join them back up with 6 people or so left.

Im not minding this series. It has some entertaining features....
- Hopefully a guy can finally win one again
- I pray that Naonka will be eaten by a shark
- I find it hard to believe that Pauline Hanson is one of the competitors
- Things might get spicy in the yellow camp after a nasty tribal
- Fabio is p*ss funny and i dont think the others see him as a threat so he is likely to hang round a while
- I wanna see that old shiela flip out again
- Im very much looking forward to the more brutal immunity challenges we have seen in other series.
Yes it could be better but there is something about watching chicks in bikinis on an exotic island starve half to death. I do miss Parvati though :(
