Can't wait to see Margaret and David's review tonight.

They'll be handing out welfare stars like it was Centrelink on dole day.

Reakon at least four stars from each...

Snowtown is engaging from the opening scene but the scariness is a slow burn, a gradual atmospheric intoxication that drifts into the viewer’s brain and central nervous system. It takes some time to realise just how toxic the air has become. That’s when the film moves into glimpses of rape and torture, the audience now dug in uncomfortably deep, controlled by the filmmakers who masterfully tread the line between what to show and what to keep in the shadows. Much of the violence is implied.

Snowtown isn’t just a brilliant piece of blood curdling cinema; it isn’t just one of the best local features of this or any year. It is the most frightening Australian film ever made, and a great piece of art that stands on the same shelf as hard-hitting masterpieces such as Samson & Delilah (2009), Breaker Morant (1980) and Wake in Fright (1971).

Richard Wilkins just reviewed it on the TODAY show and was very critical of it. He likened it to a snuff movie and called it "appalling". He also said there was no portrayal of the motivation behing the killings which I think is something that MP commented on.

Watched just for this review, Margaret gave 3.5 David 3.

David was very critical about how long it took to set they story up. Mind you he thinks all Australian films suffer the same problem. Probably says something about the budgets the Australian industry has to work with.

Thought it was pretty good and wasn't as violent as you may believe although that's not to say that there's certain scenes some aren't going to find it hard to deal with.
Not sure if the bloke I saw bagging it on a morning show was speaking to Richard "Jeff Goldblum" Wilkins at the time but he certainly seemed to be making some extremely debatable statements.

I'm waiting to go see it, I have to see my sequel first, then probably Hangover 2 then this one. A friend of mine was one of the victims and they never go into much depth on how he became involved on any of the doco's I've seen so hopefully the movie will shed some light for me.
I know of at least 10 people who we're extra's on it and the film crew spent two weeks in someone else I know's backyard as they used it for a setting, there will be many familiar parts in it, it's kind of why I like Bad Boy Bubby.

Off the track a bit - but I drove past Snowtown and I feel sorry for the poor little country town to be honest.

Some evil bastards dump bodies there and now the town's name will be plastered on every movie, book & newpaper article to do with the case forever. Beautiful little rural town that will now be scarred for life (a bit like Truro).

Watched it last night, wasn't what I expected, I was a bit disappointed.

I was more interested in picking out familiar streets, houses, shops etc.
