Not a bad innings from one who was diagnosed with motor neurone disease at 21.

Just realised he died on Pi day. How appropriate.

I remember reading "A Brief History of Time" when I was younger, helped to kindle my interest in physics, so he is partly to thank for the physics and engineering degrees i have.

What an incredible contribution he has made to society

Booney wrote:"Lou Gehrigs".

Moto Neurone, ALS and Lou Gherigs are all the same thing arent they?

Haha. Thanks I guess

Just to blow my own trumpet for a sec - I did an electrical/electronic engineering and physics double degree at adelaide uni, graduating with first class honours in 2007.

Have also got a graduate diploma in signal and information processing too, studied for that part time whilst at work.

He died the same age as Einstein and it just happened to be Einstein’s birth date aswell

Cited as the greatest scientist since Einstein.

I know they gave him 2 years to live and he batted on for more than another 50.

You and more than 10 million others, although you can expect that figure to soar now.

Best selling book after the Bible ad the works of Shakespeare apparently

And born exactly 300 years to the day after the death of Galileo

the last part didnt sound right to me, and indeed it isnt, plenty of books have sold more than 100 million copies. But a great book nevertheless

correct
Should have quantified it better. Only heard on the radio driving in this am, but I think it refers to the Cambridge University Press bestsellers.

It sure if anyone will have heard of him but Jim Bowen also died yesterday
He was one of the comedians on the Wheeler Tappers and Shunters Social Club comedy / variety show, and had fame as the host of Bullseye. His catchphrases were ‘here’s what you could’ve won’ and ‘you get nothing for two in a bed’.

Sad news with the passing of R. Lee Ermey at age 74. He was best known for his role in Full Metal Jacket but I loved him as Sheriff Hoyt in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2003 remake and it's prequel.

RIP
