Kayo Sports

Postby bulldogproud » Mon Nov 26, 2018 2:51 pm

A new network was launched by Foxtel today, Kayo Sports. It offers all the sport that Foxtel does, plus a lot, lot, lot more. The big bonus is that it only costs $25 a month, much cheaper than the current $50plus that it currently costs to access sports via Foxtel.

A streaming service dubbed “the Netflix of sports” has launched today, with its boss promising it would fill “a gap” in the Australian market and revolutionise the way we watch TV this summer.

Kayo Sports, which was the brainchild of Foxtel chief executive Patrick Delany, will offer live and on-demand video from more than 50 sports including cricket, rugby league, AFL, motorsport, basketball, tennis, and golf from Australia and abroad.

Users will even be able to watch up to four sports on a screen at once, or choose to view sports with “no spoilers”.

Certainly worth a look I reckon.

Kayo does offer a lot more than Foxtel though, and is much cheaper (if all you want is sport). $25 a month versus $54 a month.

I think I pay $44 per month for fox now with the drama pack. I dont watch anything other than sports. Thinking I might wait until GOT has finished up mid next year to swap over as we have talked about re watching thrones before the last season.
Unless there is a cheaper and more convenient way to watch got?

I've got the same plan MC.

I've only watched GOT and Ballers on Foxtel Now, the rest of the time it's been sports.

I did start watching strike back but I dont watch that many series and I reckon Netflix has a good enough range for me.
Think I will eventually swap over but the Mrs ( and me) will be spewing if we cant watch thrones when it comes out!

Could just drop down to the Drama pack on Foxtel Now ($15) and get Kayo Sports ($25). Would be $4 cheaper and you get a fuller range of options re sport. You still get all the sports channels (including ESPN and Bein, as well as a huge range of shows and other events not currently on their channels.

What's the NBA content like, is it just the ESPN coverage you get on FOXTEL? Assume it's not every game like league pass

Given this thing is owned by Foxtel, I'm of the assumption that it's their ESPN feed.

Yes, Heater is right, just their ESPN feed, plus a range of documentaries.
It also lacks Premier League Soccer, due to Optus having the rights.
Would be great if it could come to some sort of deal to screen more British soccer.

So it just covers what is on FOX now? No extra live sport?

What is the delay like on real time sport? Even if it is only a few seconds its a no deal for me.

It does seem to have more offerings than their normal channels. For instance, right at this moment, you can choose to stream any of four NCAAM matches live. You can also split your screen so you are watching up to four sports events at the one time (on the $35 option) or two (on the $25 option).
It also enables you to watch action in slow-motion at just the touch of a button, or to select to just watch highlights of the play so far in a match, and a few other nifty things.

If you have Foxtel you can download the Watch ESPN app and can get up to 8 college football or basketball games a day that are not shown of Foxtel

Plenty of different programs on there
