Yeah, terrible reading, made worse by the Lifeline/Beyond Blue info at the bottom of the article

The family asked for privacy and they put that stuff in … disgraceful.

Just let them be. Extremely sad.

It’s more about education and hoping more people reach out for help

I get that, fine if the cause is confirmed, but even if that’s what most people think might have happened, I still reckon it’s poor form .. but that’s just me.
Dunno, I’m just an idiot.

Its not the nicest to have at the bottom of the article but let's be honest the family won't see it, they're not reading articles on this.

So so so sad and once again the black dog proves it doesn't discriminate.

If nothing else let this be a reminder to check in on some mates tonight.

Isn't it News Corp's policy to include that messaging at the bottom of articles reporting on unexplained deaths?

If it's confirmed as something else the update the article and remove it.

I thought it was standard procedure by all news outlets in Australia these days? I'm sure I've seen it on ABC stories before it's been 'confirmed'.

Anyway the media always know more than they let on about incidents so they know it was suicide.

Terrible news for the Selwood family.

I have no issues with it. If it can stop one person from doing the same thing, it's done it's job.

Nah it's not Channel 7 showed the Lifeline logo and number after their story on tonight's 6pm news.

I don't think it would be posted on mainstream media if it wasn't the case, it would stop any innuendo or heresay too.

I understand both sides of the argument though, there is no right or wrong and we're all wired differently, I'm with Bum Crack on this view FWIW, I've lost enough friends along the way in this fashion.

I remember when they put a 2m high fence along the railway line at Cheltenham and people were complaining about the cost, I said if it stops one little kid wandering on to the line, then is it worth it? They changed their tune.

Incredibly sad news.

West Coast Eagles premiership star Adam Hunter has died.

Thoughts are with his family, friends and former teammates. Extremely difficult couple of days in football.

More details to come.

100% agree with this, speak to the police and a lot of the car crash deaths are young men committing suicide, has to be spoken about more as is becoming an epidemic.

As tough as it is for the Selwood and Hunter families, hopefully their stories may stop other young men following the same path!

Horrible week for the football community. I'm not sure about Hunter but I am pretty sure Selwood had a history of bad concussions which we are now learning can cause CTE (chronic traumatic encephalopaphy). I stand corrected but I think this is what Shane Tuck, Danny Frawley and many others were found to have suffered which may be a big contributing factor to these sad outcomes?

Must say this scares me more and more the older I get - especially when you hear of more increased cases of those having it and committing suicide, or losing the memory or change in mood.

Over my younger years always thought i was invincible and concussion was seen as nothing more than a headache to brush off with not much regard.

I know where you're coming from, reckon I had 4 or 5 big ones where'd I've got no recollection of time as a result, plus quite a few more head knocks where you'd get a bit dizzy and end up with a headache.

Glad the focus has been increased over the years, I can recall one game where I've got no memory of a quarter or so of the game, but getting extra best players money because I'd got on the smelling salts and kept putting my head over the ball (stupidly thought I couldn't do more damage if I'd already been knocked out...)
