Pre-season & Rookie Draft

I like Port's pick-ups today. Think Harding & Cloke might turn out to be pretty good players for us. Have always rated Cloke a bit, obviously higher than his previous coaches, lol

I would give the selections today a pass mark.

I'm looking forward to seeing how some of the young blokes go in this year in the SANFL, especially Webb.

Glad Carlton got rid of Cloke. He is rated just above being useless.

Cloke may actually come in handy for the power. He is clearly there as a depth player in the ruck division.

Its hard to tell at the moment if this will be a reasonable pick up or not, I still believe he may be useful. After all, big blokes aren't falling from the sky at the moment are they?

Correct Stan. He will be behind Brogan and Lobbe who I know Port expect big things from this year ( Lobbe that is ). He could also be back up for Tredrea and Chaplin / Carlile if any of them get injured.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

Too inconsistent, too slow, and became to much of a liability when it counted. But he may go ok in a new environment

My understanding in the SANFL mini draft Cloke was on the Eagles radar. If he was around at pick 5 and their other 2 choices were gone he would have been wearing an eagles jumper.
But they got one of the kids they wanted :D

Funny thing about Cloke, was watching a replay of the Carlton and Brisbane 2009 final, and Cloke was actually alright in that game. I think he kicked 2.1 and provided a little big for them. So I know I said he was a massive dud and to a degree I believe that, but still he might be ok-ish depending on how he is used. For example if he played as a backup ruckman or say a 3rd forward then that would suit him.
