Graham Cornes' selective memory

Postby Mr66 » Sat May 06, 2006 8:11 pm

To quote Studley in today's Addy;
'There are many unanswered questions from that debacle in Tassie, but you don't have to be a genius
to know why none of the St.Kilda players told the umpires that the siren had indeed sounded.
They needed to win at any cost. Any further erosion of the nebulous concept of sportsmanship
would be a small price to pay for four points'

Don't accuse the St.Kilda payers of being unsporting, Cornesy. Crows players are guilty of the same thing during
the 1997 final series. Do the names Colbert and Liberatore ring a bell? Didn't see any Crows player asking the umps
to award the mark or goal to these players then.

He has a selective memory with his coaching carrer also. He'll talk about how wonderful he was as a coach, but doesn't bring up when he was sacked at the Crows & why too often...

I used to LOL at Cornes when he used to come up with the line 'What has Norwood done since the War?'...well, won more premierships than Glenelg has in it's history twit.

Yeah that works.

A current SANFL coach white anting Cornes by winging to the board certainly didn't help his AFL coaching cause.....

To us his coaching moves at the Bay in 86 particularly in the week up to the GF won us the flag, who was going to stand up and kick the goals against the North defence....Tony Hall of course....

Selction of player to get under the North on-ballers skin so they lose the plot - R Kidney

TActics in the SOO games to slow down the Vics, give away 15 m penalties....

Nah he couldn't coach, pity players let him down, in 1990 to give us that elusive premiership against Port

I only thought Jeff had foot in Mouth problems. It goes to prove that Graham Cornes not only talks crap he writes it to. But the problem is the Advertiser for paying him to right this crap.

Largely because a siren is clear cut objective once it sounds the game is over when the umpire first hears it.

The Colbert and liberatore incidents are interpretations or opinions. Not the Crows players fault the umpire didn't pay the mark or goal. FWIW I think Colberts was a mark (my interpretation) and the behind the goal shot of Liberatore was a point (for mine).

can you acuse the Geelong players of being unsporting for not giving Modra the free kick 5 mins before Colbert's "mark"?

Big difference in my book between your sacriligous critique of the grestet footballer in Australia in 1980 on the Crows notion of sportmanship vs the Saints alledged "sportsmanship" because one is realtively objective (hearing a siren) where as football is littered with example of subjective interpretations of umpires on the laws of Australian Football.

Remember to some of us this is not 2006 AD it is 58 AD 58 years after the birth of the messiah Graham Cornes!!!
