Ling pulls the pin

Postby Rik E Boy » Wed Oct 05, 2011 8:32 am

According to Fox news this morning Premiership Captain Cameron Ling has informed coach Chris Scott of his decision to retire.

Ling will leave the game at the top being a Premiership Captain and will go down as one of the toughest run with players in the business. In his last game he successfully shut down Brownlow medalist Dane Swan and kicked the final goal in the Cats' premiership win.

Geelong will miss the raw strength of Ling and while he has had many knockers over the year he hasn't let the Cats down on too many occasions. Cameron Ling, thanks for the memories.

regards,

Gotta hand it to Geelong, their last couple of Captains have been Grade A Leaders. And with J Kelly & Selwood likely to come in line for the job next year, the strong leadership model will continue.

Well done to Cam Ling, not the most polished player, but great to watch his hardness across the ground.

That sucks. he had another year left in him and it is blokes like him which win you finals. Strong body and a great tagger. His retirement will put a dent in their chances of going back to back.
So you've seen everything have you?
Yep

No
Well you haven't seen everything then have you.

I thought he should have pulled the pin last year and he proved me wrong, great leader, great bloke, great player.
Fairytale way to end his career with the premierships, a great effort on the Brownlow winner and the last goal of the game.
Well done Lingy, will remember your great work forever!

I agree I thought he shouldve retired last year, but he has been super this season and is one of the blokes you need in finals.
Good for him to go out on a high if true

Yep, remember that one.

Was hard to dislike Lingy as an opposition supporter. Unpretentious and played the game hard but fair.

There are now some verrrryyyyy worried footballers out there.
Scared they may now gain the mantle of ugliest player in the AFL.

If they have half the career of Ling, they will have done well.

Great and well done to him on his career. I would have thought he would have gone another year, but really he might of needed to be carried a little towards the end. So well done to him on his career and also on the way he ended it.

So that makes Ling, Mooney, Milburn retired.
