Wasn't the greatest of games due to the conditions.
Absolutely pissed down during the warm up.

Very happy with our ability to ice the game when Melbourne had repeat entries.
Premiership footy.

Loving the hate for Collingwood, keep it coming.

Conditions played no part in that shit fest. The rain had stopped and it wasn't slippery.

What did contribute to it was the umpiring, it was ( as usual ) completely different to minor round matches as evidenced from the very first holding the ball not paid against Lever in the opening minutes. The amount of congestion caused by missed free kicks was evident. What that also did was allow Collingwood, in particular, to set up behind the ball and slow Melbourne down. Couple that and it was a terrible spectacle.

Was a pretty intense finals-like first quarter, but then became a bit humdrum, and agree with some of the posters above, neither of those sides stood out to be premiership favourites.

While it was only a couple of minor round games as a sample, how critical has Petty's injury been in Melbourne's forward structure, and now add in Melksham.

Maynard will be suspended. Not because what he did was intentionally malicious but because the AFL won't want it to be seen to be okay and give the green light for future similar incidents where perhaps some intention might become part involved.

If Brisbane don't make the GF (and I don't think they will), then they have to wear the same stigma as Port in the early 2000's and 2020-21.

What are the odds for a Port/Carlton GF?

Can't do it yet, but Port $3 to make the GF and Carlton $6 to make the GF.

Slightly different nature of incident, but if McCartin v McAdam is all sweet there’s grounds to argue the injury to Brayshaw is an unfortunate result of a genuine footballing action.

The argument will be if Maynard deliberately lower the shoulder into Brayshaw or was he protecting himself? Who the hell knows and good luck to the AFL either way this goes!

I think the bigger issue for Brayshaw is how easily he was knocked out.

I only saw the last quarter and it was good to watch.
Maynard has to get several games. People get games for legal bumps and that was an illegal FAD any day of the week, onus is on the pressuring person to not touch the player after he disposes of it.

Did you not see blokes slipping over all night?
Kicks getting shanked because the grounded foot shifts on contact.
Agreed, there were a few htb's missed but that's how finals are umpired.
You have to really earn free kicks in finals. I don't like it but it's always been the way.

Precedent set with the Rioli? one last year when he poleaxed Rowell.

Not even close to similar nor a precedent. A marking contest is a lot different to making contact with a guy after he gets rid of the ball.

There is no argument, 1. Plays for a big V club, 2. MRO played for said big V club. We all know how this ends.

95kg coming down on the side of your head...hardly an easy knock out.

More chance of winning div 1 tomorrow night. Port would need to beat the Pies at the G and Carlton would need to beat the Brions at the Gabba.

Maynard will argue that the collision occurred after he attempted to smother Brayshaw's kick, and there was nothing he could do while he was in the air. The counterargument would be that if you're essentially jumping into someone in order to smother (rather than jumping straight up), you need to ensure you don't collect them high. I don't think it's anything greater than careless, but I reckon he'll cop a week.

In the regular season it would be
Classifiable Offences - Forceful Front On Contact
Careless - High impact - High Contact ----> 2 Weeks

However I don't see him getting any weeks

Non Vic-based player gets 3 weeks
Vic-based player gets 1 week which then gets overturned after a review.

We all know how much the AFL love a negotiated outcome, it should be 0 or 3 weeks, but watch him get 1 week and be available for GF if they make it
