Hopefully that excludes her from all commentary roles.

Nope. She'll continue with Channel 7

Nope. She'll continue to threaten mens masculinity with Channel 7

It has nothing to do with her gender or fivehead, I genuinely switch off when having to listen to her commentate, I’m a huge supporter of women’s football and my manhood isn’t intimidated by my support.

Having said that, I dislike listening to Brian Taylor and Dermie equally as much.

Yeah agreed, my wife and I can't stand her commentating either but we both love women's footy and Daisy was great down at Geelong.
I don't care whether its males or females, the first criteria to get a radio gig or commentary gig should be having a decent voice.

i heard someone refer to her as the greatest of all time when talking about her taking the WCE job... I mean cmon...
Yes she is a pioneer for the sport, but GOAT? Besides the obvious Phillips, there would be a dozen current players that are already better than she ever was.

Agreed, we probably missed both of their best years but Erin is older so could use that even more as an excuse.
Erin will always be the GOAT as far as AFLW goes for me.
Well until Nina Morrison, Meg McDonald, Georgie Prespakis, Chloe Scheer and Amy McDonald go past her anyway. ;)

If you thought it was aimed at you...

As for bringing her appearance into it, doesn't help when you're arguing that it's her commentary that is below par.

How dare you be entitled to your own opinion.

1: Yes I kinda did considering it was piggy backing my initial post.
2: I couldn’t really give a toss if it was, I’m not a fan of Daisy Pearce, I admired her football ability but it stops there.

It's a tricky time we live in... being critical of a woman in the workforce can come across as sexist when not intended.
If you had said the same comment about BT, we'd all be agreeing with you.

She's just not a very good commentator, simple as that.

Women can be good commentators and sports experts - I like Isa Guha and Lisa Sthalekar.. didn't mind Mel Mclaughlin. Don't mind Abbey Holmes in the AFL.

Couple of the women in the NRL are good also.

I think it comes mostly down to comfort levels and experience, I think Pearce has the experience as a player, but comes across still awkward and uncomfortable at times - similar with Underwood.

However she knows women's footy, she's played it, she gets it.. she'll probably be a really good coach.

As I noted above bringing her appearance into it detracts from the point that it's her commentary that is sub standard.

I dislike Taylor for how he carries on, not his looks.

I think Pearce is an ok commentator, her insights are on the back of her own playing career and working with Chris Scott and the Geelong mens team, she's hardly a kick in the park hack.

There's numerous commentators I'd have her ahead of though.

That's true.
And on the other hand, I wonder how many like Abbey Holmes commentary because she is good on the eye?

Once again, it doesn’t bother me how you’ve perceived it, I wasn’t arguing a point, I was giving my opinion.

I find her commentating boring, I find her voice mundane and I’ve always found there’s a bit of me,me,me about her.

As Bedge highlighted, there are some terrific female commentators covering male sports, a lot that are more listenable than their male counterparts.

But you’d generally hardly even see them so their appearance means diddly squat when it comes to their commentary skills.

I like Holmes because she doesn't appear to try and create topics of conversation or analysis - sometimes less in best. She contributes right time, right topic, right amount.

Sounds weird when I type it out.. but I know what I mean. :D

For me, a good commentator is someone who just calls the game - throws in the odd stat or trend, senses changes in momentum or big occasions and doesn't try to go over the top.

BT, Slater, Warne - struggled to listen to these blokes coz it's mostly was/is just waft..

Warney was a terrible commentator, just harped and harped on a point if he thought he was correct.

All good mate, I think she's much maligned for who she is and how she looks when it's the content she delivers that should be judged as entertaining, informative or otherwise.
