Moonee Ponds city hall? You can just imagine the dialogue...we'll say this, you say that. We'll allege this, you deny it and we'll accept it if you don't deny x, y or z and cop the following ... Blah, blah, blah. Shake hands and see ya in court later next year

The AFL are p!$$ weak.
If it was a club outside Victoria it would of been all over months ago.

EFC, Hird, Corcoran and Reid all charged with bringing the game into disrepute
Hearing will be on the 26th August
Players are safe at the moment, no infraction notices
The AFL has declared that even though AOD is on the banned list they cant punish the players
Time for the lawyers to start earning their cash

After what they did to West Coast, Essendon should've had the book thrown at them.

You mean when Cousins got arrested, the AFL banned him straight away, then charges were dropped.

If theyre just charging individuals, wouldnt that mean the clubs points are safe?

Easy done, it was the four individuals names that stood out. I wonder how mark mcveigh will go when he speaks to channel 7 next. Surprised at Dr Reid and Bomber thompson to be hohest.

That and having a sword dangling over them in regards to player's conduct.

From what I understand the AFL dont want this dragging out and encroaching into the finals and are seeking a resolution before the August 26th hearing.
I am led to believe the deal consists of the following
- Hird, Thompson, Corcoran and Reid to receive 6 month bans with Thompson and Reids to be suspended sentances.
- All 4 to receive fines
- Club fined $2.5m
- Club loses Round 1 and 2 draft picks next year

No loss of points and club to play finals.
Its believed the sticking point with Essendon is the loss of draft picks, if negotiations work out hopefully this will be finalised before the hearing date
