I am led to believe the deal consists of the following
- Hird, Thompson, Corcoran and Reid to receive 6 month bans with Thompson and Reids to be suspended sentances.
- All 4 to receive fines
- Club fined $2.5m
- Club loses Round 1 and 2 draft picks next year

No loss of points and club to play finals.
Its believed the sticking point with Essendon is the loss of draft picks, if negotiations work out hopefully this will be finalised before the hearing date

That couldn't be correct. Hardly a penalty, except the fine, when you consider what the Crows got.

Crows were found guilty
We havnt been found guilty and I think the AFL may be worried about this dragging on any longer.
If it goes to court, finals could be in jeopardy
By all means we are not safe yet, ASADA could find more evidence and suspend players down the track

If the bombers are delivered a infraction notice in the future due to multiple people found using drugs is the only way the bombers will lose points.

I think the AFL should definitely let the Bombers play finals ... just for the embarrassment value alone when they get smashed.

Agree its a pathetic penalty.
They have and/or will be found guilty of bringing the game into disrepute and IMO this saga has been far more damaging to the brand than Melbourne or the Crows.
It should be at least 2 years of draft picks.
Under that the suspensions are nice and cosy arnt they, Bomber does the pre-season and Hird comes back just in time for season to start. How is this penalising the club

the bombers are going to get a bigger penalty than Melbourne and the crows.
Hird is going to get at least 16 games, and the fine could be 5 mil

There's no way a club should be able to negotiate their penalty.

Perhaps someone can explain how it is that Essendon and/or the four blokes have brought the game into disrepute?

They all are in some way shape or form responsible for the improper practices ie offsite injections etc which Essendon will no doubt be found guilty of.

Have they been charged with improper practices and offsite injections?

No exactly the same as AFC, we didnt charged with Salary cap breaches as we didnt pay outside the salary cap. But by us stupidly agreeing to should we need to, we were caught by this rule. The rule is designed to catch anyone doing something that the AFL doesnt like that brings the integrity of the AFL into question. Same rule is in many other major sporting codes im lead to believe and is what they call the 'catch all' clause.

They are the offended party as well as the judge, as much as I reckon you cop a whack when you stuff up, I reckon I'll enjoy seeing someone take this system on.
