How can a 25 year old ex captain go in a draft, say where he wants to go basically and be left until that clubs first pick, I smell a very dirty rat, has more chance of playing the next 6 to 7 years of senior AFL footy than any picked before him unless he picks up a major injury

Agree with the first part of you sentence I've highlighted in bold. The second half is pretty ridiculous. Most of the players picked before him will be playing the next 6 or 7 years.

Cos only one club wanted to pick a self indulgent WANKER (cos he'd fit in with the culture)

Cos big Lance plays at Collingwood....

Well done to Menzel and Nason to be picked up. Good luck fellas.
Glad to see they're it - from a Doggies POV.
Wait for the pre-season draft now.

Good prospect but didn't want the Crows to go there.

Personally i thought he would be a perfect fit for the Crows.

Pretty disappointed that Wanganeen didn't make it. From his point of view, thought he would have fitted in well at either STK or BL

Always good to turn a Falcon into a Cat. We've picked up another Centrals lad and we've snaffled a Ruckman to replace Mummy as well. Not a bad effort from a reigning Premier.

Sydney pick 14

Maguire is a great pick up for Brisbane

If his body holds up and he comes back well, then yes it will be a great pick up for them. Im realy surprised that Carlton didnt seriously have a look at him. I mean he is what they need!

Nup, Footy talent actually runs through my family but managed to skip me, next draft pick will be my lad to the Cats hopefully. ;)
Even my old man got in the league squad for Torrens on a few occasions when the Hanks and Head was around.

good form by nason

didnt show enough at times at magpies in fairness...
and probably didnt get on the park enough with injuries!
would be fair to say he has always had the talent

i think his work rate improved in his move to centrals

I can see how. If I was Ross Lyon, I'd much rather have Jesse Smith in my 22 than Raph Clarke, as long as Smith can get his body right.

Im the other way around, i can see why they went Jesse Smith, but why in the hell did they go Adam Pattison??? They have King, Gardiner and McEvoy (who i rate very highly). What do they need 4 ready made ruckman for? Surely develop a ruckman over the next 2 years under King and Gardiner and then have him ready when they depart i would have thought!

Have met the lad, he is a very nice young man, all the best Ben...

Came to Central after Tim Ginevar (then Port coach) told him he wasn't good enough to play league football, now on an AFL list !!

I agree with Timmy.

So do I....and disturbingly I agree with NFC

Only Richmond could stuff up recruiting him LMAO

Just got back from Melbourne, going to the draft was quite enjoyable.

Interesting to walk around the Lads in the foyer before going in, so much nervous energy - but maybe that was cause the draft was held next door to the Sexpo and the interesting sites coming in and out in the foyer

Fair bit of drama when Melbourne picked Luke ............. Tapscott - everyone in the room thought is was going to be Ball and they played in up in delayed the surname, would have put the shits up the Pies for half a second.

Essendon reading out the wrong number when selecting Carslile, they nearly ended up with the one from South Adelaide!

Richmond had the 2nd selection in Rnd 4 and after the 5 min break Melbourne passed the 1st selection and Richmond still took over 3 mins to decide who to take

From a Roos perspective Cunnington looks a gem who will play immediately, Jesse Smith goes to a club who plays a heap of games at the DOOM, goodbye hammys, goodbye career

Looking thru Carltons selections, no McGuire, no tall defenders = no chance Rutten

Does anyone know if the recycled players get an automatic 2 year contract like the first timers drafted? If so that means McGuire, Hooper, Smith all get something more than they deserve at this stage of their careers?

IIRC they only get one year deals Dutchy.

Im extremely happy with Richmonds selection of Martin and the rest of the boys we got. Definitely finishing above NM this year Dutchy ;)

With the luke situation, Collingwood would not have been fooled by the delay as im sure they would have known Luke Balls number.

Thought it was definitely better this year, in prime time n back on the tv. Hopefully it stays like this every year.
