Crows in control all night until they kicked 1.6 in the last. Some very, very simple chances missed.
Dangerfield's wasn't a holding the ball. He was tackled and disposed of the ball legally. It wasn't deliberate because I'm not even sure he wasn't trying to get the ball to the teammate behind. He was being slung and last I checked missing a target wasn't a free kick

Reality is the umps make very, very few errors when you get the angle they had. They can't make up a penalty so if they're blindsided then they can't pay it. Most criticisms of them are in fact criticisms of the rules, which isn't their area. They just adjudicate the rules, they don't make them.
The umps are hot on holding the ball, no doubt. But notably it's only when the ball is locked up. If the player gets the ball out they're very forgiving. The key is if you get the ball do what you can to move it on and you won't penalised as much. Just like the hands in the back and falling into a player's back the teams will adjust and get smarter. As a result we'll have a fairer contest. I think we all love seeing blokes win prime position and take the mark because the other guy can't shove them out of the way or smash their arms away Dustin Fletcher style.
Callinan is a special player though. Dogs fans always knew he could do it and now 16 AFL clubs are feeling embarassed at not picking him up at 18.
