Dixon will be cut by Port, worth a punt for 1 year for North?

No he won't.

If he was to though he would be a good fit for them, he wouldn't have to pinch hit in the ruck like he has at Port, that has killed him IMO.

You think he gets another year?
Thought he would be one of the first cut unless they are worried about losing 1 or 2 forwards

I thought Finlayson might have missed out on a deal with Soldo, Sweet, Visentini, Dixon, Lord, Marshall and Scully all on the list but he's just been given another year. Perhaps the noise around Soldo is true and if so I think Dixon might get another year as insurance alongside Finlayson.

Scully is an interesting one, he's not really come on as I'd have hoped and doesn't look close to a debut. With Lord having a rotten start to the year with injury he hasn't got going at all either. We need Lord to have a big summer and be competing for the CHF role.

Will Dixon get another year? Flip a coin is as close as I can get to deciding.

I think we're a better side with him in it. I'd have him before Marshall and Finlayson. Gerogiadis will get the #1 defender and Dixon won't be set up to fail like he has.

If we were to somehow land Kosi you would think our game plan would change dramatically and we'd actually open up the forward line and use more of a running inside the 50 approach instead of the absolute plop that we tend to go back to where we do all the hard work off the half back and then just bang it in long and hope for the best.

There has been some talk that the Cats will enquire about Lord again so perhaps that is a consideration.
Marshall’s concussion issues are surely a concern too id imagine

Chad Wingard announces his retirement :

Pick 6 2011. 218 games, 300 goals.

PAFC 147 games, 232 goals
HFC 71 games, 68 goals

AA 2013 and 2015
BnF 2013
PAFC leading Goalkicker 2015,2016
Mark of the Year 2014

His 2013 season was something else, in his second year averaged 21 touches, 4 marks, 2 tackles, 5 I50 and kicked 43 goals to be named in the All Australian team at 19 and the youngest player since Mark Riccuito in 1994 and went onto to win the PAFC BnF making him the youngest winner of that since Craig Bradley in 1982.

Never really reached those lofty heights after that season although he kicked 43 goals in 2014 and 53 in 2015 ( his second AA nod ) the footy he played in 2013 was of the highest order, not many 19 year olds come into the game and do that.

Crulled by injury it feels like having just turned 31 and not having played since the end of 2023 we didn't get to see everything he had to offer.

Lord is contracted to the end of 2026, with Hawkins calling time they'd certainly be in the market for a tall forward but I think he'd very much be in our long term plans. Georgiades and Lord to build around.

Marshall's concussions have certainly become a concern for him and another one in the next 12 months could become more about player welfare than football future.

Thought he was going to be Port's first Brownlow Medallist after those first couple years, but it didn't quite work out

Saw him play at Box Hill this year, was struggling to get around the ground, and sadly looked well off the pace for a return to the seniors.
1961, 1971, 1976, 1978, 1983, 1986, 1988, 1989, 1991, 2008, 2013, 2014, 2015.... And don't you forget it!

Yeah, we have enough of his type.

Interesting to see that he has only scored 3 Brownlow votes in his career, and that was a BOG against the Cows, must have looked better than it showed as on paper there were a few better performers.

One of Brad’s favourites. Most of our fans were terrified at the thought of him getting a new deal and zero chance of being delisted.
Good that he retired
