Will be interesting to see if we baulk at Worsfold if the Chick rumours have any substance

Prescription medication abuse was rife in the early 2000's including the premiership year....

Daniel Chick, breaking a decade-long silence on the club’s dark underbelly, says powerful asthma pills, Xanax, Sudafed, Stilnox and Valium were among drugs sometimes provided through the Eagles, that were abused by several players.

Chick claims he and former teammates Daniel Kerr and Ben Cousins took massive doses of asthma drug prednisone in a pattern experts describe as “bizarre and inappropriate”.

“At those levels it’s the same as being a full-on meth addict,” he said.

“The lack of sleep, the depression, it affects your mental health, coping mechanisms, metabolic rates and causes memory loss and sleep issues. It’s not a coincidence the three of us have had issues with substance abuse.”

Chick, who played for West Coast from 2003 to 2007 and had a key role in the one-point defeat of Sydney to win the 2006 Premiership, claims:

A STAFFER hid certain players from drug testers.

A FORMER Eagles figure dished out sedatives in bulk to players.

THE use of illicit drugs — including cocaine, ecstasy and methamphetamine — was not confined to a few ``bad boys’’, but was widespread.

If im not mistaken Prednisone has been on the WADA banned list since the early 2000's.

Congrats to Sydney the 2006 moral Premier :D

Lol, are all the Eagles' flags tainted? First the shady Matt Barber regime of the early 90's and now this.

I think it's only the beginning of the AFL drug culture in the early to mid 2000's being revealed

Can't wait until some of Port Powers players antics are revealed.

Was scheduled for another interview at 10am this morning, will be interested to see if it proceeds. This would definately scare a few people away.
My understanding is that he wasnt the clear cut favourite like the media all assumes. I mentioned a few weeks back that the selection panel was super impressed with Burns and he is definately right in it. If he gets the gig id think McKenna or McCartney would come in as his senior assistant

I have had experiences of rec drug use with AFL listed players who weren't very subtle about it

Port like nearly every other AFL club had a huge rec drug culture in the early to mid 2000's

I watched a Power player sell pills to a couple of girls in Savvy around that time. I was shocked at the time because I didn't think any 'normal' person took drugs. After that I just noticed it everywhere. I think it's well known that a couple of the Crows golden boys were the biggest drug takers in Adelaide. Ben Cousins took the fall for most AFL players back then. There would have been a few nervous boys when that all happened.

Yep an afl listed player was one of the bigger dealers getting around, they weren't very subtle

SA listed footballers on interstate lists would help secure gear for their teammates while in SA
