Essendon 2013

Talk on the national game

Re: Essendon 2013

Postby Farbs » Fri Aug 23, 2013 3:44 pm

the advertiser has just reported that Essendon and AFL are in talks to resolve the matter which could see Hird stand down as coach, Essendon lose their premiership points for 2013, but they will retain their draft picks.

I think that'll be weak by the AFL if the only penalty the club get is a loss of points for this year...given that they are now struggling to win games and will prob lose their first final in any event

If that is the case then that is poor imo.

Melbourne media are running with this story.
They have said thats why Hird wasnt at his presser today, the rumours are that 2013 points lost, Hird 12 months suspension, Reid and Corcoran 6 months and Bomber let off.
Would keep draft picks.
I cant see this happening, why would the AFL dish out a lesser penalty than what was reportedly offered weeks ago

Who knows what the AFL will do....i just hope they don't lighten the penalty too much for want of getting over and done with. One of the harshest penalties that can be handed down is loss of draft picks, so if Essendon get away with that, I think they'll jump at it.

If that was to be the case i cant imagine Adelaide, Melbourne and Carlton being too pleased. Essendon at the very least deserve a good 10 years at the bottom like Carlton got. This is by far the worst thing any club has done and if the AFL cave in the commission needs to be sacked.
Hird and Corcoran deserve life just on their text messages alone, how can those messages be defended?

Regardless.

This should not be happening.

Someone is in the wrong here.

Would the average mother or father be happy with injecting anything into their son...?

This is serious.

Disgraceful.

Essendon should get a 10 year ban, maybe a life ban.

Would anyone line their son up for the next injection.

Oh it's ok now, but what in 10 years...?

Comment Wedgie...

Essendon should be banned from football.

Full Stop.

What will be in the next injection...?

Let that be a lesson to you Sturt. You don't beat Glenelg 3 times in a row in Grand Finals and get away with it.

How can a deal be done when Andy has consistently said there has been no pre-determined judgement of the penalty or indeed guilt?

Think both sides just want it done now
The AFL definately doesnt want it dragging through the courts for months more

What do you expect, anything to keep the boss of the AFL out the spotlight if these are the penalties they stink of corruption right across the board

Surely this is a joke, sets a very bad precedent ie, do something wrong just deny deny deny, crap on about the process not being fair, start taking court action, AFL backs down and hands you a whack over the head with a wet lettuce leaf.
Disgraceful from the commission if true

As I said this is what is being reported.
I for one dont think this will be the outcome, I expect worse.
Maybe Hird really does have something on Andy D and the AFL
Perhaps part of any deal will be that Hird stops any court action
