I think you will find the values at West Coast have changed a lot , More a family club these days with Simpson / Hurn at the top with all the kids around than the old days when Chick , Cousins ect were playing

Melbourne has put an exclamation mark on its season to forget, with the club recording a financial loss of $1.58 million.

The club reported the loss on Monday, stating the Demons’ poor on field performance had created a major ripple effect for Melbourne’s bottom line.

Melbourne chief executive Gary Pert suggested poor crowds were a contributing factor, as were the club’s lack of hosting rights for blockbuster games.

“There’s no doubt that announcing a loss of over $1.5mil is a bitterly disappointing financial result, and a reflection of a club which finished 17th on the ladder,” Pert said

“A significant amount of changes have been made in the off season to ensure we give ourselves every chance to bounce back both on and off the field, and I hope Melbourne supporters are quietly excited about the possibilities in 2020.

“It’s important to reiterate to members our strong balance sheet has allowed us to fully cover the revenue shortfall with our cash reserves and pay down our debt, which now sits at two million dollars.

“I want to thank our members and supporters for their continued loyalty. We are a member-based club and still rely heavily on our members for their support.”

Despite making a magical run to the preliminary finals in 2018, Simon Goodwin’s team slumped to 17th this year, recording just five wins.

The Demons kick off their 2020 campaign against West Coast at Optus Stadium.

Pretty much, took over in October 2018.
