Yep, only 5 rounds in but signs are ok at the minute.
Brown’s leading the Coleman - arguably the best kick for goal in the comp currently
Waite is starring & is very hard to match up on, just stay fit!
Scott’s not afraid to throw the magnets around, sending Ziebell forward more lightens the toll on his body (he was burnt out last year)
This gives the likes of Turner, Simpkin & Dumont more time on the ball
Jacobs has already shown he’s still the best tagger in the game despite nearly two years sidelined
Wood, Garner, Ahern, Wright, Preuss all biding their time in the VFL
Amazing the difference minimal injuries makes.

Not suggesting they'll go anywhere near as far, but there's some shades of Richmond 17' about what the club is doing.

Might be what's needed to lure Jeremy McGovern.

And/or Sloane. North might pay slightly overs to show their supporter-base they can land decent fish, meaning Sloane could jag a nice retirement fund at a club with plenty of promising younger aged players.

McGovern is the one we need. Probably Thompson’s last season so he would slot straight in next to Tarrant.
IMO we don’t need Sloane nearly as much, we’ve got plenty of on ballers.

Haven't seen a heap of North yet - Dumont going OK?

Agree mate, but if you can get a bloke like Sloane I think most clubs find a way to make it work.

Not sure we need Sloane.

Very proud of the way they have gone about it, shows if you have good balance in your list you can still get good results while developing kids.

Having Waite/Brown/JZ up forward, Goldy/Cunnington/Higgins thru the mids and Thompson/Tarrant at the back, then chuck our next wave of players around these blokes.

Goldy has re-found his touch and looks much fitter than previous 2 campaigns. Hartung has surprised and was excellent yesterday, the knock on him was his disposal but he is averaging over 60% at the moment, his outside speed compliments some of our slower players. Benny Brown has gone to another level and must be a nightmare to defend with his high reach.

And have the best defence in the league by 6 goals at the moment shows some good foundations.

If we keep going like this it is only going to put more and more pressure of the likes of Carlton/Saints/Bulldogs who will be chasing the free agents also.

Tough draw coming up in the next month, playing most people's top 4 - Port, Sydney, Richmond, GWS, then Freo away makes this week pretty important, but expect Port to come out breathing fire.

Yep, don’t count your cans before they get cold.

Never hide or shirk from a bet.

Looking okay North. Ziebal been playing well up forward and i said to a few people last year, Ben Brown is the key forward i would throw a heap of money at if we can. Most exciting key forward in the comp for mine and hardly misses in front of goal. First few steps are very quick as well to generate the space between him and his defender

And he very rarely goes to ground.

Ben Brown is a star, and doesnt need many opportunities to hurt you because of his goalkicking.

Forward line looks good but i reckon you will still get found out against elite on-ball brigades, of which hawthorn isnt.

Jacobs is doing a fair job too though.

Certainly playing better than a lot of us expected but I doubt they will finish higher than 12th still.

I wouldn't argue. Best forward in the comp too.

so spargo and HH3, where do you think you will finish?

My opinion is based on their midfield being crap and their defence still not really being tested

Hawthorn still the only team of substance you have beaten and you lost to gold coast and melbourne, who both arent going flash either.

Port, Sydney, Richmond and GWS to come. We will see where they are at in a month.

Don't rate Goldstein, Cunnington, Dumont, Higgins, Ziebell, Jacobs?

I don't actually think they have the worst side on paper.

Daw has been an interesting move into defence.

Thompson isn't as mobile as he used to be, but has the smarts, Tarrant likes to get his hands on the ball and play the intercept marking role, Daw has moved down there to be the stopper and so far, at least, is playing his role. That's been important for them. Goldstein being back in some form hasn't hurt, either.

A bit like Essendon being gone after one game, Adelaide being gone after one game, I'll wait for a bigger sample size to evaluate North. Fair to say they won't be 17th or 18th as we expected as they'll get their 4th win this weekend.

$2.85 Ladbrokes when I got on last night.
