Confucius say cliche ken is safe as a rabbi at a hookers convention. I think he was recently had his contract extended by a couple of years sa they feared he was going to be poached. Port will end up making finals. Perhaps the assistant coaches are not performing ?

I think Port will just miss out on the finals. Looking at their draw I have them down for 5 more wins with 2 or 3 50/50 games which would give them about 11/12 wins for the season. They will have to beat some top 6 sides in the 2nd half of the year and not lose to sides around them like Melbourne and Richmond to make the 8 IMO.

We won't make the 8.Jonas will miss at least 4, Gray will get one, Hartlett unlikely to travel this week I would think.

Dropped the Carlton game to a side around us with a ruckman, this week it's Melbourne and Gawn. We might bring Howard in to help Trengove, but either way they're playing better than us and we'll be without up 8 first choice players.

Went to my first Port game of the season Saturday and sat in an area I don't normally sit in.. had this absolute douche bag sitting behind me the whole game commentating his thoughts and criticising the Port lads.. I reckon he must've suggested half the team neck themselves.. and his constant references to "back in his day" amongst other insightful comments made me want to head butt him

Aaron Young was superb though, worked hard up and down the ground, regularly found himself in space out the back when Port got the ball forward - although was missed by team mates on occasion.

Thought West Coast transitioned the ball from defence to attack far too easily and quickly compared to Port though - most times they turned it over you got the feeling they were going to end up at the other end having a shot on goal.. at times looked like a training run - kick to an uncontested mark, handball to a player running past, kick long, handball under, kick I50.

Port do still have very good match day entertainment etc though, it's no wonder fans continue to show up even if the results aren't going their way, they make it an enjoyable family entertaining atmosphere.

Do you have about 16 thousand tied up with Amateur footy? Crows had 47k for Freo match 1.10 saturday.

Tend to agree with him around the Kane Cornes thing...still confuses me.

Anyway I went to the Port game on the weekend and sat up in the Southern stand, which isn't my preferred spot but it was great to watch the movement of players etc. My view was that Port and WCE had similar work rates with their press and spread, it was simply that WCE made less mistakes under pressure to get thru and/or over the press. Port had a few players panic too often which created turnovers. There were at least 5 examples where a Port player hand balled under pressure directly to a WCE player. You are actually better off holding the ball in even if it means getting penalised holding the ball as your defence can at least reset instead of a quick rebound turnover.

To summarise I think Port's effort is there, they are just getting exposed in skill execution and to a lesser degree getting out coached.

Dickson has a long way to go to be an A grade forward.

The difference between 47,000 at the Adelaide and 38,000 at the Port game is 16,000?

I agree with this - or they gave the handball to a player under greater pressure than they were under. Skill execution was very poor, especially going I50.
