Poor turnout however you look at it.
We'd all like perfect times with perfect weather but that'll never happen.
Weather wasn't too bad given it's a winter sport.

also plenty of people that complain the night games are a bad timeslot for kids etc. (though maybe not as many that complain about having saturday committments)

still though, have a look at the crowds for hawthorn games this year. the bandwagoners have jumped off quicker than anything.

they only got 28k to a game against West Coast earlier this year.

A pretty big gig, shows the high regard he is held in worldwide. He couldn't turn that job down no matter what club he was working at in Australia in any code.

Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Nah, his role changed, he didnt seem happy at the time. I'm not suprised Liverpool wanted to change things up as his last full year there they came 8th even behind Everton and Newcastle. Hopefully he helps Arsenal continue their slide backwards, their supporters are more feral than anything we see in the AFL.

“Brendan (Rodgers) wanted to bring in some staff from Swansea, and Brendan has been fantastic, but my role has changed and its not really worth living on the other side of the world for,” he said.

His wife is an Adelaide girl, so as noted above, when his role changed he could have gone to the Boston Celtics ( IIRC ) or come back to Adelaide. The PAFC it was.

I reckon we'll see him back at Port Adelaide at some stage and would think he'll continue to mentor the people he has been developing over the last 3-4 years.

Far from ideal, but knowing he ran the program at Liverpool and the likes of the Celtics and Arsenal are chasing or have chased the man who has headed up the PAFC program is pleasing to know. The players and performance staff have had access to a world leader for sometime now.

After the game in Shanghai he flew to Madrid to speak at a major European sports science week as a key note speaker.

What sort of coin you reckon he's on at Arsenal?
PAFC. Forever.

Disappointing crowd, I thought 35k would have been a pass mark.

When I got there and saw behind the Northern goals had zero Lions flags or people in that bay ( the visiting cheer squad ) I thought that's about 1-2k we'll be down, 2-3k still kicking around in the parks around Adelaide and no real traveling support or local support for the visitors compared to the Eagles a month ago.

I personally love the timeslot, perfect to go have a beer or two before hand at my local, get the train in, few at the game and come home by 7:30 in time to go around to a mates place for a couple after.

On the beers there, completely cashless now at AO for those who haven't been for a while. So it's either paywave every transaction or take cash with you and "charge" up an Adelaide Oval card. There's charge points around the ground to go and get he cards. You then just swipe this at bars/canteens and get a balance receipt after each transaction. You keep the card if you want with monies still on there, or, take it back to an exchange point to get reimbursed your balance before you leave.

Should have seen the look on the bar chicks face when I went to give her a 10'er for my brew -

"We don't take cash anymore"

"Sweet, they're free then?"

"No, just no cash, card blah blah blah"

"Huh, makes you wonder who the customer is, doesn't it?"

She gave me a filthy.
PAFC. Forever.

Please stop being so sensible. This is not the time or place for it.

But yeah. I obviously can't go as I am masquerading as a footballer still. The people I go with are in the same boat. Port have a higher percentage of males aged 18 to 40 I believe, so Saturday time slots would affect us more than say, Adelaide, who have a slightly older demographic.

So whilst it's a disappointing crowd, the are some understandable and simple reasons for it.
