The main problem i find with this system is if a player has been found guilty and given time on the sidelines, and even though the club and player believe the charges are wrong, its a big risk to take the case further as the threat of a longer suspension is too great.

Even though it was deemed a fair bump the MRP has stated that any incidental contact after the bump will be deemed reckless, Hannebury was concussed after his head hit the ground after being bumped

saw the hit, Hannebury was hit fair and square- Davey should fight it all the way.

They were explaining the new rule on SEN today, if you have any other option but still choose to bump you are liable for any injury that comes out of it. The MRP has stated that Davey chose to bump instead of tackle, they agreed the bump was fair but because he fell down and hit his head it is Davey's fault. I hope he fights it but I dont have any faith in him getting off

Thats crazy .. Who's to say Hannebury wouldn't have still hit his head via a tackle?

That question was answered. If Davey laid a tackle and his head hit the ground it would be deemed accidental and he would have no case to answer. The bump is as good as gone

Yep, unless you're playing in the Grand Final there's not much point in using it .. Congratulations AFL, you have finally got your way.

The AFL must really want lance to win the Coleman, first suspending Tex and now letting Franklin off. Not good enough really.

TSG, could you or the AFL show me where in the rules it says if a player gets slung tackled and gets injured the tackler will get games and where if a player is slung tackled and does not get injured the tackler is free to play on ? This logic defies belief !

Just what I have observed over the season and a half. Don't think it's in the rules, but seems to be the way suspensions are handed out.

Every team seems to be copping their fair share of dodgy ones. Best to suck it up and move on.

And in my opinion that his why this system is so flawed, why penalise people for trying to defend themselves.

Doesn't add up with the Priddis tackle though does it!

I agree. However I think with the priddis one, they said NLM didnt use 2 motions so he wasn't suspended

No, there was about 4 motions and the 4th was where he drove him forward head first into the ground with both arms pinned. Not only was he unable to play out the game but the following week also.

Pretty well exactly the same as the Priddis tackle but both players weren't running therefore severity was less.

Good to see him get off one, he has been rubbed out for some rubbish in previous years.

There was no malice in Swans trip. Some bozo on the radio made a good argument saying by putting your leg out like Swan did you can turn faster. Not sure if true but I believed him.

With Franklin.....first Stewarts backside hit the ground first, then the elbow/arm, no damage to the head. Sure it was a sling tackle but he was able to brace for the impact. There is no conspiracy.
